Tachyplesin II (TP) is a β-folded peptide isolated from horseshoe crabs. TP, with two disulfide bonds, effectively inhibits gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, fungi and viruses. In this study, the antibacterial and antioxidant properties of synthetic TP were examined.

The pathway controlling mitochondrial proteostasis and mitochondrial homeostasis of the UPR and mitophagy are closely related with the ROS and cell senescence.

SCUBE1 has been previously reported to engage in platelet-platelet interactions, potentially contributing to the activation of platelets in early onset thrombi. The purpose of this study was to examine the alterations in SCUBE1 expression in PASMCs after APE, as well as understand the mechanism behind these changes.

A total of mice were split into normal saline (control group) and inflammation and fibrosis mouse models (study group) randomly, and lung tissues and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were obtained from mice at the inflammatory and fibrotic phases on the 7th and 28th day, respectively. The degenerative changes in the mouse lung tissue were then visible using H&E staining.

The ER unfolded protein response (UPR) is initiated to promote cell survival by alleviating excessive ER stress, but cellular apoptosis is induced by persistent or strong ER stress. Recent studies have reported that reticulophagy is initiated by ER stress.

Here, we show how stem cells of the shoot apical meristem and their nascent daughter cells suppress infection by cucumber mosaic virus (CMV). The stem cell regulator WUSCHEL responds to CMV infection and represses virus accumulation in the meristem central and peripheral zones.

However, the molecular mechanism within remains unclear. Here we show that the short hypocotyl phenotypes of mutants are mainly due to the defects of cell elongation rather than the cell division.
