The wide-bandgap semiconductor material GaO exhibits great potential in solar-blind deep-ultraviolet (DUV) photodetection applications, including none-line-of-sight secure optical communication, fire warning, high-voltage electricity monitoring, and maritime fog dispersion navigation. However, GaO photodetectors have traditionally faced challenges in achieving both high responsivity and fast response time, limiting their practical application. Herein, the GaO solar-blind DUV photodetectors with a suspended structure have been constructed for the first time.

A pair of enantiomers is known to have different biological activities. Two catalysts with opposite chirality are nearly always required to deliver both enantiomeric products. In this work, chiral rhodium(III) cyclopentadienyl complexes are repurposed as efficient catalysts for enantiodivergent and atroposelective hydroamination of sterically hindered alkynes.

This study aims to investigate the inhibition of myricetin on heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) formation in glucose/creatine (creatinine)/amino acid simulated system and Cantonese mooncakes, and elucidate the mechanism by which myricetin inhibits HAAs and analyze its impact on sensory quality of mooncakes. Results demonstrated 0.2 mmol myricetin inhibited six HAAs by 43.

Article Synopsis
  • Distillation membranes with hydrophobic surfaces are being explored for seawater desalination, but existing designs often suffer from low efficiency and high energy usage due to their 3D structures.
  • Researchers created dual-asymmetric Janus membranes using a two-dimensional nanoweb approach, enhancing the membrane's structure and wettability.
  • The resulting Janus membrane achieved remarkable desalination results, with more than 99% salt rejection and a flux rate of 11 kg/m²/h, making it a promising advancement for liquid separation technologies.

Metabolism reprogramming (MR) is one of the top ten hallmarks of malignant tumors. The aberrant activation of MR has been recognized as a critical contributory factor to the malignant progression of solid tumors. Moreover, various long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in the aberrant activation of MR in solid tumor cells.

SS18-SSX onco-fusion protein formed through aberrant chromosomal translocation t (X, 18; p11, q11), is the hallmark and plays a critical role in synovial sarcomagenesis. The recent works indicated that both the pathological SS18-SSX tumorigenic fusion and the corresponding intrinsic physiological SS18 protein can form condensates but appear to have disparate properties. The underlying regulatory mechanism and the consequent biological significance remain largely unknown.

Background: Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) is a significant clinical emergency, and investigating novel therapeutic approaches and understanding their underlying mechanisms is essential for improving patient outcomes. Naringenin (Nar), a flavanone present in tomatoes and citrus fruits, is frequently consumed in the human diet and recognized for having immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Despite Nar being able to alleviate intestinal IRI, the exact molecular mechanisms remain elusive.

Due to the rise in cardiovascular disease and the problem of autologous transplant limitation, the emergence of 3D bioprinted blood vessels using natural polymer materials as ink is becoming increasingly important in the field of small-diameter artificial blood vessels (φ ≤ 6 mm). In this paper, gelatin was firstly adopted to explore alginate/chitosan composite hydrogel properties and solve the current issues of poor mechanical performance and suboptimal printability of small-diameter blood vessels, which indicated that the modification caused a 17.7 % increase in compressive strength and a 63.

Molecular weight (Mw) of ligand-mediated nanocarriers plays a pivotal role in their architecture and properties. In this study, self-assembled ovalbumin (OVA)-loaded nanoparticles were meticulously engineered by starch polyelectrolytes with different Mw. Results unveiled that, tailoring Mw of GRGDS pentapeptides-grafted carboxymethyl starch (G-CMS) displayed strong binding-affinity and transport efficiency through microfold cells (M cells) pathway in the simulated intestinal epithelial cell monolayer in which M cells were randomly located in the Caco-2 cells monolayer.

The mirid bug (Riptortus pedestris), a major soybean pest, migrates into soybean fields during the pod filling stage and causes staygreen syndrome, which leads to substantial yield losses. The mechanism by which R. pedestris elicits soybean (Glycine max) defenses and counter-defenses remains largely unexplored.

Foodborne heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs) are potent mutagens and carcinogens, posing significant health risks. Existing enrichment methods for HAAs need better adsorption selectivity and capacity for daily exposure assessment. This study hypothesized that introducing carboxylic groups into magnetic covalent organic frameworks (m-COFs) would improve HAAs adsorption by providing additional binding sites.

Solution-processable perovskite-based devices are potentially very interesting because of their relatively cheap fabrication cost but outstanding optoelectronic performance. However, the solution spin-coating process involves complicated processes, including perovskite solution droplets, nucleation of perovskite, and formation of intermediate perovskite films, resulting in complicated crystallization pathways for perovskite films under annealing. Understanding and therefore controlling the fabrication process of perovskites is difficult.

Particulate matter (PM) pollution has posed a serious threat to public health, especially the global spread of infectious diseases. Most existing air filtration materials are still subjected to a compromise between removal efficiency and air permeability on account of their stacking bulk structures. Here, we proposed a self-polarized assembly technique to create two-dimensional piezoelectric nanofibrous webs (PNWs) directly from polymer solutions.

The construction of ecological networks within the context of urbanization is an effective approach to cope with the challenges of urban biodiversity decline, representing a crucial goal in urban planning and development. However, existing studies often overlook the richness and uniqueness within species communities by homogenizing traits of species in the same class. This study proposes a framework for constructing and optimizing ecological networks focused on differential conservation within the same class.

  • Researchers developed a method to synthesize β- and α-glycosides using 3-quinaldoyl glucals, utilizing palladium catalysis at two different temperatures (60 and 110 °C).
  • The process successfully glycosylated a variety of compounds, including alcohols, monosaccharides, and amino acids, yielding both products efficiently and with high selectivity.
  • Investigations into the mechanism revealed unexpected interactions, and the method’s effectiveness was showcased by applying it to natural products and creating a complex tetrasaccharide.

Gallium oxide ( ) photodetectors have drawn increased interest for their widespread applications ranging from military to civil. Due to the inherent oxygen vacancy defects, they seriously suffer from trade-offs that make them incompetent for high-responsivity, quick-response detection. Herein, a nanocavity photodetector assisted with grating electrodes is designed to break the constraint.

Axially chiral biaryls featuring a C-N axis are important functional molecules in diverse fields. The asymmetric Buchwald-Hartwig reaction represents a powerful strategy for these targets. Previous studies, however, have been predominantly restricted to intramolecular atroposelective coupling, likely due to the steric and entropic effects in the reductive elimination of Pd(II) species with sterically congested aryl and nitrogen groups.

Opioids are used for pain relief in patients suffering from acute myocardial ischemia or infarction. Clinical and laboratory studies demonstrate that morphine treated patients or the experimental animal model suffering acute myocardial ischemia and reperfusion, may worsen myocardial viability. As transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) plays important roles in pain sensation and cardio-protection, we query whether opioids may exacerbate myocardial viability via interaction with TRPV1 activity in the pain relief.
