A pyruvated exopolysaccharide designated as LPE-1 was isolated and purified from the fermentation broth of Lactobacillus plantarum AR307 and characterized for its chemical structure. The results indicated that LPE-1 contained galactopyranose (Galp) and glucopyranose (Glcp) at a molar ratio of 2: 1. The weight-averaged molecular weight (M) of LPE-1 was 605 kDa, with a polydispersity index (PDI) of 1.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFour half-sandwich type mononuclear lanthanide crown ether complexes with the formula [Ln(12-crown-4)(NO)] (Ln = Dy (1), Tb (2), Ho (3), and Er (4); 12-crown-4 = 1,4,7,10-tetraoxacyclododecane) were successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. Ac magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that dysprosium complex 1 behaves as a typical single-ion magnet, while solid state photoluminescence studies show that complexes 1 and 2 have the respective lanthanide(iii) luminescence characteristics.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo new sandwich-type lanthanide complexes with the general formula [(Pc)2Ln3(L)(OAc)(OCH3)2] (Ln(3+) = Dy(3+) () and Er(3+) ()) were successfully synthesized and structurally characterized based on closed-macrocyclic Schiff base and phthalocyanine molecules. The magnetic properties and structure-property relationship in this multi-decker system were investigated. Interestingly, the corresponding dysprosium complex shows typical single-molecule magnetic behavior with ferromagnetic dipole-dipole interactions and the slow relaxation of magnetization.
