An integrated investigation to structural, activity and microbial diversity of anammox granular sludge (AnGS) in a wastewater treatment system with high ammonia nitrogen load was performed and aimed to establish the relationship between granular size and performance. Estimating truck emissions accurately would benefit atmospheric research and public health protection. Here, we developed a full-sample enumeration approach TrackATruck to bridge low-frequency but full-size vehicles driving big data to high-resolution emission inventories. Based on 19 billion trajectories, we show how big the emission difference could be using different approaches: 99% variation coefficients on regional total (including 31% emissions from non-local trucks), and ± as large as 15 times on individual counties.

Soil erosion in the ecologically fragile zone is severely affected by the intensified coal mining activities in the Yushenfu Mining Region of the Loess Plateau. Soil erosion controlling projects such as the "Grain for Green" program are continuously implemented by the government, which has effectively mitigated or even controlled soil erosion. Coal mining results in new environmental problems, which has changed the erosion characteristics and sediment transport in watersheds.

Laryngeal papillomatosis is a benign disease in the larynx but with the potential to develop into significant complications as a result of its high recurrence rate. CO2 laser and radiofrequency controlled ablation (coblation) have been used to treat recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, but detailed comparisons of their respective treatment outcomes are not fully investigated. This retrospective study examines the procedure time, time interval between interventions, blood loss during operation, post-operative complications and pain scores among patients who received either CO2 laser or radiofrequency coblation interventions for laryngotracheal recurrent respiratory papillomatosis.

The classification of the distinct group of mesenchymal neoplasms, first described as 'Xp11 translocation perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa)' and for which the term 'melanotic Xp11 neoplasm' or 'Xp11 neoplasm with melanocytic differentiation' has recently been proposed, remains challenging and controversial. We collected 27 melanotic Xp11 neoplasms, the largest series to date, for a comprehensive evaluation. Here we determined mitogenomes of three Bostrichiformia species. These data were combined with 51 previously sequenced Polyphaga mitogenomes to explore the higher-level relationships within Polyphaga by using four different mitogenomic datasets and three tree inference approaches. Among Polyphaga mitogenomes we observed heterogeneity in nucleotide composition and evolutionary rates, which may have affected phylogenetic inferences across the different mitogenomic datasets.
