Objective: To analyze the dynamic changes of thyroid hormone and cortisol hormone (COR) and their relationship with prognosis in patients with severe craniocerebral injury.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 48 patients with severe craniocerebral injury who were admitted to our hospital from January 2014 to January 2017 was performed. According to the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) after 3 months of treatment, the patients were divided into a favorable prognosis group (GOS score = 4-5) and a poor prognosis group (GOS score = 1-3).
Fractional anisotropy values in diffusion tensor imaging can quantitatively reflect the consistency of nerve fibers after brain damage, where higher values generally indicate less damage to nerve fibers. Therefore, we hypothesized that diffusion tensor imaging could be used to evaluate the effect of mild hypothermia on diffuse axonal injury. A total of 102 patients with diffuse axonal injury were randomly divided into two groups: normothermic and mild hypothermic treatment groups.

The brains were harvested at 2, 6 and 24 hours, and at 3 and 5 days after injury. Changes in brain water content were determined using the wet and dry weights.
