Background: Central precocious puberty (CPP) is characterized by the premature activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, resulting in early onset of sexual development. The incidence of CPP has been rising in recent years, with approximately 90% of cases lacking a clearly identifiable etiology. While an association between precocious puberty and gut microbiota has been observed, the precise causal pathways and underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.

While the expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) is associated with response to immune therapy, PD-L1-negative patients may still benefit from immune treatment. Programmed death ligand-2 (PD-L2), another crucial immune checkpoint molecule interacting with PD-1, correlates with the efficacy of various tumor immune therapies. This study investigates the expression of PD-L2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients following anti-PD-1 therapy and its predictive value for clinical survival outcomes.

Terahertz spectroscopy systems, which integrate terahertz sources and detectors, have important applications in many fields such as materials science and security checking. Based on highly sensitive frequency up-conversion detection, large dynamic range spectral measurements in a terahertz region are reported. Our system realized the detection sensitivity at a 10 aJ level with a 2-(3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5,5-dime-thylcyclohex-2-enylidene) malononitrile (OH1) crystal and a dynamic range up to seven orders.

Polyamine metabolism dysregulation is a hallmark of many cancers, offering a promising avenue for early tumor theranostics. This study presents the development of a nuclear probe derived from spermidine (SPM) for dual-purpose tumor PET imaging and internal radiation therapy. The probe, radiolabeled with either [Ga]Ga for diagnostic applications or [Lu]Lu for therapeutic use, was synthesized with exceptional purity, stability, and specific activity.

Purpose: Several studies have demonstrated the advantages of heterodimers over their corresponding monomers due to the multivalency effect. This effect leads to an increased number of effective targeted receptors and, consequently, improved tumor uptake. Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) and integrin αβ are found to be overexpressed in different components of the tumor microenvironment.

N-methyladenosine (mA) plays a crucial role in the development and functional homeostasis of the central nervous system. The fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene, which is highly expressed in the hypothalamus, is closely related to female pubertal development. In this study, we found that mA methylation decreased in the hypothalamus gradually with puberty and decreased in female rats with precocious puberty.

Background: Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping-guided biopsy is crucial for cancer staging and treatment. Optical/nuclide dual-modality imaging agents for mapping SLN are ideal for preoperative planning and intraoperative biopsy, which are enabled by penetration-depth unlimited nuclide imaging and dynamic real-time optical imaging, respectively. However, commonly reported dual-modality imaging agents are composed of novel but safety-unproven materials, making their quick clinical translation challenging.

The wide applications of terahertz (THz) wave technology in the ∼1-3 THz range has resulted in a surge in the demand for the performance improvement of THz wave detection technique. In this study, a frequency tunable, highly sensitive frequency upconversion detection based on a 2-(3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5,5-dime-thylcyclohex-2-enylidene) malononitrile (OH1) crystal at room temperature is demonstrated. Moreover, to effectively increase the signal-to-noise ratio in the low frequency range, a beam isolation enhancer is proposed and its effect is verified.

Objectives: To investigate whether the combination of inflammatory biomarkers and metabolic parameters of F-FDG PET/CT could predict the major pathological reactions (MPR) in resectable NSCLC patients after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy more accurately and screen out patients who may benefit from the neoadjuvant therapy.

Materials And Methods: 114 resectable NSCLC patients who underwent neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy and radical surgery were retrospectively enrolled. Detailed clinical characteristics, B-R and F-FDG PET/CT images were collected for analyzing their correlation with MPR.

Purpose: PD-L1 PET imaging, as a non-invasive procedure, can perform a real-time, dynamic and quantitative analysis of PD-L1 expression at tumor sites. In this study, we developed a novel peptide-based PET tracer, [ Ga]Ga-AUNP-12, for preclinical and first-of-its-kind imaging of PD-L1 expression in patients.

Methods: Radiosynthesis of [ Ga]Ga-AUNP-12 was conducted.

Physiological changes in hemostasis during pregnancy have been reported by several authors. This study aimed at establishing reference intervals for the hemostasis biomarkers thrombin-antithrombin complex (TAT), α2-plasmininhibitor-plasmin complex (PIC), thrombomodulin (TM) and tissue plasminogen activator-inhibitor complex (tPAI-C), in healthy pregnancies. After excluding outliers, a total of 496 healthy pregnant women (128 first-trimester, 142 second-trimester, 107 third-trimester and 119 pre-labor) and 103 healthy nonpregnant women were enrolled from Shenzhen Bao'an Women's and Children's Hospital.

Concerns about the endocrine-disrupting effects of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have raised questions about their potential influence on precocious puberty in girls, which is an emerging concern in some populations. However, epidemiological evidence is lacking. In this study, 882 serum samples were collected from girls with central precocious puberty (CPP, = 226), peripheral precocious puberty (PPP, = 316), and healthy controls ( = 340) in 2021 in Shanghai, China.

Background: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is one of the most severe acute complications of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Patients with DKA of different severities may have different clinical manifestations, serum biochemical levels and hormone changes.

Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the clinical manifestations, serum hormone levels, and biochemical levels of 70 Chinese patients with moderate to severe type 1 DKA in the acute and recovery phases admitted to Shanghai Children's Hospital from 2015 to 2020.

Frequency upconversion technology with good performance including high sensitivity, fast response, and room-temperature operation is a promising method for terahertz-wave detection. The sum-frequency conversion and difference-frequency conversion jointly affect the detection ability for upconversion detection using organic crystals as nonlinear media. The concurrence of both processes has been ignored in past studies, which results in discrepancies between theoretical simulations and experimental results.

Purpose: PD-L1 PET imaging allows for the whole body measuring its expression across primary and metastatic tumors and visualizing its spatiotemporal dynamics before, during, and after treatment. In this study, we reported a novel F-labeled D-peptide antagonist, F-NOTA-NF12, for PET imaging of PD-L1 status in preclinical and first-in-human studies.

Methods: Manual and automatic radiosynthesis of F-NOTA-NF12 was performed.

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine [5-HT]), a metabolite of tryptophan, acts on the components of the hypothalamus-hypophysis-gonad axis and induces puberty delay in mammals via 5-HT receptor 1A (HTR1A). However, the roles of HTR1A in the hypothalamus in pubertal regulation of gene expression are not fully understood. In the current study, the upregulated gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) expression in GT1-7 GnRH neuronal cells induced by the HTR1A antagonist WAY-100635 maleate was observed .

TFE3 (transcription factor binding to IGHM enhancer 3) nuclear translocation and transcriptional activity has been implicated in PINK1-PRKN/parkin-dependent mitophagy. However, the transcriptional control governing the mitophagy in TFE3/Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma ( tRCC) is largely unknown.
