Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the recurrence of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and provide guidance for reducing the recurrence rate.
Methods: A total of 211 patients diagnosed with DFU who were hospitalized and discharged from the hospital from October 2015 to January 2020 were included as the study cohort. Participants were divided into two groups according to whether the foot ulcer recurred during the 2-year follow-up period: a recurrence group (n = 84) and a non-recurrence group (n = 127).
Background: Although the pathophysiological mechanism of septic cardiomyopathy has been continuously discovered, it is still a lack of effective treatment method. Cortistatin (CST), a neuroendocrine polypeptide of the somatostatin family, has emerged as a novel cardiovascular-protective peptide, but the specific mechanism has not been elucidated.
Purpose: The aim of our study is to explore the role of CST in cardiomyocytes pyroptosis and myocardial injury in sepsis and whether CST inhibits cardiomyocytes pyroptosis through specific binding with somastatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) and activating AMPK/Drp1 signaling pathway.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to determine whether biomechanical properties of mature oocytes could predict usable blastocyst formation better than morphological information or maternal factors, and to demonstrate the safety of the aspiration measurement procedure used to determine the biomechanical properties of oocytes.
Methods: A prospective split cohort study was conducted with patients from two IVF clinics who underwent in vitro fertilization. Each patient's oocytes were randomly divided into a measurement group and a control group.
Background: Traditional Chinese medicine prescription sini decoction (SND) can alleviate inflammation, improve microcirculation, and modulate immune status in sepsis patients. However, its underlying mechanisms remain unclear, and therapeutic effects may vary among individuals.
Purpose: Through a comprehensive and systematic network pharmacology analysis, the purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic mechanisms of SND in treating sepsis.
Sepsis commonly causes acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and ARDS contributes to poor prognosis in sepsis patients. Early prediction of ARDS for sepsis patients remains a clinical challenge. This study aims to develop and validate chest computed tomography (CT) radiomic-based signatures for early prediction of ARDS and assessment of individual severity in sepsis patients.

In this study, Z-scheme CoAl-layered double hydroxide (LDH)/indium vanadate (InVO) heterojunction photocatalysts were synthesized using hydrothermal method, and their performance toward CO reduction and mechanism were determined. Results of characterizations showed that the CoAl-LDH/InVO-30 exhibited desired morphology, the most efficient photogenerated carriers separation and charge transfer, and the highest photocurrent response.

In order to improve the effect of physical education teaching in modern colleges and universities, this paper combines the movement skill recognition algorithm to construct a physical education effect evaluation system and studies the multispectral image reproduction system in practical application. Moreover, this paper gives a detailed description of more advanced functional modules in the system, such as spectral acquisition, spectral reflectance reconstruction, and spectral color correction. In addition, this paper focuses on the algorithm design of the color appearance matching module.

Individuals with multiple morphological abnormalities of the flagella mostly have absent, short, coiled, bent, and/or irregular-caliber flagella. In this study, a patient with male infertility underwent a physical examination along with his wife.

Immunologic factors have been proved to be related to the occurrence and development of SFTS; however, their role still remains to be further elucidated.
Methods: Samples from 30 patients with laboratory-confirmed SFTS and 15 healthy controls were subjected to flow cytometry to detect the proportion of CD4+/total lymphocytes, CD4 + CD25+/CD4 + cells and CD4 + CD25+ Foxp3+/CD4 + CD25+ cells in circulating blood and to evaluate their potential function in the development of SFTS.
The domestic pig has been widely used as an important large animal model. Precise and efficient genetic modification in pig provides a great promise in biomedical research. Recently, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated (Cas) system has been successfully used to produce many gene-targeted animals.

Considering the advantages in immune system resemblance, suitable size, and longevity for clinical practical and monitoring purpose, SCID pigs bearing dysfunctional RAG could serve as important experimental tools for regenerative medicine, allograft and xenograft transplantation, and reconstitution experiments related to the immune system. In this study, we report the generation and phenotypic characterization of RAG1 and RAG2 knockout pigs using transcription activator-like effector nucleases.

These NRPs have the ability to self-renew and differentiate into neurons, but not into glial cells, which is considered an advantage for cellular therapy of human neurodegenerative diseases. However, difficulty in the extraction of highly purified NRPs from normal nervous tissue prevents further studies and applications.

An emerging infectious disease was identified as severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in central China since late March 2009. We found the patients with SFTS had severe clinical symptoms, and progressed rapidly to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) with high fatality rate of 25%-30%. The aim of this study was to assess the significance of risk factors predicting the development of MODS and death in SFTS patients.

The current situation is that acupuncturists have understanding insufficiency in hospital infection management, lack the sterile concepts and consciousness of disinfection and isolation. Aseptic technic principles aren't strictly followed; disinfection and isolation systems are unsound; sanitary condition of hand of medical staff is unsatisfied; and there is shortness in traditional long filiform needle manipulation.
