We present a consistent derivation of the complete Wess-Zumino-Witten interactions of axions, including the counter-term necessary to guarantee the gauge invariance of the standard model. By treating the derivative of the axion field as a background gauge field and incorporating auxiliary chiral rotation phases, we ensure consistency in the axion-interaction Lagrangian. This approach allows us to derive basis-independent physical interactions of axions with gauge bosons and vector mesons.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) poses challenges in adult patients, considering its heterogeneous nature and often suboptimal treatment outcomes. Here, we performed a study on 201 newly diagnosed adult ALL cases (age ≥ 15 y) to generate intracellular and dynamic serum metabolomic profiles. Our findings revealed a predominant increase in bile acid (BA) metabolites in serum, alongside metabolic rewiring that supported highly proliferative states and actively metabolic signaling, such as enriched nucleotide metabolism in leukemic blasts.

Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) constitutes a severe complication that occurs after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), significantly reducing the survival rate of patients. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are capable of ameliorating the tissue damage caused by GVHD through exerting immunosuppressive effects; however, the relevant mechanisms require further investigation. This study used a GVHD mouse model to explore the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of human placental mesenchymal stem cells (hPMSCs) in mitigating GVHD-induced liver injury.

A poorer prognosis is thought to be associated with "double expressor lymphomas," which are a subtype of diffuse large B cell lymphomas (DLBCL) that co-express MYC and BCL2. While the role of ubiquitin-specific peptidase 37 (USP37) in lung cancer, where it mediates the deubiquitination and stabilization of c-myc, has been well-documented, its involvement in DLBCL remains unexplored. The use of RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, or WB test allowed for the detection of elevated USP37 in DLBCL tissues and cells.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) represents a group of recurrent chronic inflammatory disorders associated with autoimmune dysregulation, typically characterized by neutrophil infiltration and mucosal inflammatory lesions. Neutrophils, as the earliest immune cells to arrive at inflamed tissues, play a dual role in the onset and progression of mucosal inflammation in IBD. Most of these cells specifically express CD177, a molecule increasingly recognized for its critical role in the pathogenesis of IBD.

Ferroptosis has emerged as a potential mechanism for enhancing the efficacy of chemotherapy in cancer treatment. By suppressing nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), cancer cells may lose their ability to counteract the oxidative stress induced by chemotherapy, thereby becoming more susceptible to ferroptosis. In this study, we investigate the potential of penexanthone A (PXA), a xanthone dimer component derived from the endophytic fungus obtained from mangrove plant , to enhance the therapeutic effect of cisplatin (CDDP) on colorectal cancer (CRC) by inhibiting Nrf2.
