In this study, epigallocatechin-3-gallate nanospheres (EGCG NSs) are employed as an innovative alternative to traditional reducing agents for the in-situ growth of AuNPs on the EGCG NS surface to produce the Au nanoparticles decorated EGCG nanospheres (EGCG NS@AuNPs). This eco-friendly approach avoids toxic chemicals and simplifies the synthesis process, enhancing biocompatibility and functional properties of the resulting EGCG NS@AuNPs nanocomposite. The nanocomposite exhibits remarkable stability, photothermal properties, and peroxidase-like enzymatic activity.

Purpose: This study aimed to improve cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and health outcomes of colorectal cancer patients by understanding the status quo of CRF, exploring the relations of coping, anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, body image perception and CRF, and also identifying the factors affecting CRF based on a generalized linear modeling approach.

Patients And Methods: An exploratory cross-sectional study was conducted on 370 colorectal cancer patients at two hospitals in Anhui Province, China, from July 2020 to February 2021. The data were collected by using general information questionnaire, cancer fatigue scale, simplified coping style questionnaire, generalized anxiety disorder-7 scale, patient health questionnaire-9, and body image scale.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between TCF7L2 and CAPN10 gene polymorphisms and the occurrence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) across various populations, addressing inconsistencies in prior research.
  • Researchers conducted a thorough literature review and meta-analysis, focusing on five specific genetic loci that had been widely studied, using a range of databases to gather relevant articles.
  • The analysis included data from 39 articles with almost 9,000 GDM cases and over 16,000 controls, finding a significant association between the rs7901695 genotype and GDM incidence.

Article Synopsis
  • The Wenchuan earthquake caused significant bereavement, affecting around 800,000 people, and led to an investigation into the long-term occurrence of Metabolic Syndrome (MS) among the bereaved.
  • The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a self-management intervention program specifically designed for bereaved individuals with MS.
  • Utilizing a randomized controlled trial with 132 participants, the research evaluated physiological indicators before, immediately after, and two months after the intervention to assess the impact of the program.

The combination of chemodynamic therapy and photothermal therapy has a promising application owing to its impressive anti-cancer effects. However, the degradability of the material and the lack of targeting severely limit its further clinical application. Herein, DNAs containing nucleolin aptamer (AS1411) and different bases sequences were used to functionalize PB NPs for the targeted treatment.
