However, the precise mechanism on macrophages remains elusive.

Prevalence of transfusion-transmitted infections in hospitalized patients before transfusion and volunteer blood donors in Zhejiang Province, China.

The transplantation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) can promote hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) nerve repair, but finding suitable seed cells to optimize transplantation and improve treatment efficiency is an urgent problem to be solved. In this study, we induced hUC-MSCs into dedifferentiated hUC-MSCs (De-hUC-MSCs), and the morphology, stem cell surface markers, proliferation and tri-directional differentiation ability of the De-hUC-MSCs and hUC-MSCs were detected. A whole-gene chip was utilized for genome cluster, gene ontology and KEGG pathway analyses of differentially expressed genes.

Periostin (POSTN) is an extracellular matrix protein which is overexpressed in a variety of cancers and has been related to tumorigenesis of renal cell carcinoma. However, the involvement of POSTN in renal cell carcinoma migration, invasion, and their underlying mechanisms has not been established. In this study, renal cell carcinoma cell lines stably overexpressing POSTN were established using a lentiviral vector, and the effects of POSTN on renal cell carcinoma cell migration and invasion were investigated.

Purpose: At this time, there is uncertainty regarding whether allergen avoidance is the most appropriate strategy for managing or preventing allergies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of allergen avoidance in the prevention of allergic symptoms in previously sensitized patients and newborns that have the potential to develop allergies.

Methods: We performed online searches of articles published from January 1980 to December 2012 in PubMed and The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and selected articles involving randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and allergen avoidance.

Simple method of optical ring cavity design and its applications.

When an optical ring cavity is designed, the beam radii at some special positions, especially at the beam waists are very interested in, since the gain mediums, nonlinear crystals and others important optical elements are generally located at the beam waist. In this paper, we firstly presented a simple method for designing optical ring cavities based on the self-consistency theory and the fact that q parameter is uniquely determined by the waist beam radius and its position. This approach is different from ABCD method and it no longer requires cumbersome calculation.

A simple method for astigmatic compensation of folded resonator without Brewster window.

A folded resonator requires an oblique angle of incidence on the folded curved mirror, which introduces astigmatic distortions that limit the performance of the lasers. We present a simple method to compensate the astigmatism of folded resonator without Brewster windows for the first time to the best of our knowledge. Based on the theory of the propagation and transformation of Gaussian beams, the method is both effective and reliable.

Exploring the role of a nonablative laser (1320 nm cooltouch laser) in skin photorejuvenation.

Background: Nonablative laser has been used for the treatment and prevention of skin aging for many years. Although the mechanism has not been elucidated, histological evaluation showed that the dermal fibroblasts and its collagen production should be the main target for this rejuvenation. In order to determine the effects of a 1320 nm nonablative laser on the human dermal fibroblasts, the two main secretion factors, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1), in vitro were detected.

Hemodynamics model of fluid-solid interaction in internal carotid artery aneurysms.

The objective of this study is to present a relatively simple method to reconstruct cerebral aneurysms as 3D numerical grids. The method accurately duplicates the geometry to provide computer simulations of the blood flow. Initial images were obtained by using CT angiography and 3D digital subtraction angiography in DICOM format.
