The large-scale and intensive development of the meat pigeon breeding industry have resulted in the replacement of a large number of low-performance local breeds by a few breeds with excellent production performance. However, due to the characteristics of pigeon species that are monogamous, for which the W chromosome cannot be recovered and for which semen cannot be cryopreserved, the preservation of pigeon species is still mainly based on in-situ preservation. In this study, pigeons were classified into 6 classes of endangerment based on the criteria of the 100-year inbreeding coefficient of poultry populations in the "Assessment of Endangered Poultry Genetic Resources" (NY/T 2996-2016).

Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) in patients with cerebral lesions has garnered considerable attention in research. It often manifests as a common symptom in conditions such as intracranial tumors, intracerebral hemorrhage, and cerebral edema. This paper provides an overview of ICP concepts, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of traditional monitoring methods, explores the physiological and anatomical aspects of the optic nerve sheath, examines the utility of ultrasound measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) in both nervous system and nonnervous system disorders, and outlines the cutoff values and normal ranges for assessing elevated ICP using ultrasound measurement of ONSD.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the central venous-to-arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure difference (Pcv-aCO2) on the administration of cardiotonic drugs in patients with early-stage septic shock. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 120 patients suffering from septic shock. At admission, the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and Pcv-aCO2 of the patients were obtained.

Background: The transcriptome and metabolome dissection of the skeletal muscle of high- and low- growing individuals from a crossbred population of the indigenous Chongming white goat and the Boer goat were performed to discover the potential functional differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differential expression metabolites (DEMs).

Results: A total of 2812 DEGs were detected in 6 groups at three time stages (3,6,12 Month) in skeletal muscle using the RNA-seq method. A DEGs set containing seven muscle function related genes (TNNT1, TNNC1, TNNI1, MYBPC2, MYL2, MHY7, and CSRP3) was discovered, and their expression tended to increase as goat muscle development progressed.

Reproductive performance is one of the most important economic traits in the goat industry. Increasing the number of goats is an effective measure to improve production efficiency and reduce production costs. Ovaries are important reproductive organs in female mammals that directly affect the estrous cycle and reproductive abilities.

Article Synopsis
  • A new method for analyzing glutathione (GSH) drug substances was validated using a highly sensitive 1D H NMR technique to identify related impurities A, B, C, and D.
  • Two different pH levels (3.0 and 7.4) were optimized to distinctly identify these impurities in GSH samples.
  • The quantitative NMR (qNMR) method showed excellent detection limits and was successfully used to evaluate various GSH products, while also monitoring GSH degradation over time, proving useful for quality assessment in pharmaceuticals.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) patients with tremor-dominant (TD) and non-tremor-dominant (NTD) subtypes exhibit heterogeneity. Rapid identification of different motor subtypes may help to develop personalized treatment plans.

Methods: The data were acquired from the Parkinson's Disease Progression Marker Initiative (PPMI).

NSUN2 is a critical methyltransferase for adding m5C to RNA. Its upregulation promotes the growth and metastasis of several tumors including gastric cancer (GC). However, it is unclear if NSUN2 can improve the chemosensitivity of GC to treatment with therapeutic agents such as cisplatin (CDDP) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU).

Masked image modeling (MIM) has achieved promising results on various vision tasks. However, the limited discriminability of learned representation manifests there is still plenty to go for making a stronger vision learner. Towards this goal, we propose Contrastive Masked Autoencoders (CMAE), a new self-supervised pre-training method for learning more comprehensive and capable vision representations.

The solvation structure of Li plays a significant role in determining the physicochemical properties of electrolytes. However, to date, there is still no clear definition of the solvating power of different electrolyte solvents, and even the solvents that preferentially participate in the solvation structure remain controversial. In this study, we comprehensively discuss the solvating power and solvation process of Li ions using both experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations.

Porcine sapelovirus (PSV) is a newly emerging enterovirus that is widely prevalent in China. Since there is no clinical serological testing for PSV, the objective of this study was to develop an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (i-ELISA) for detection of PSV immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody in pigs. A PSV strain, named SHPD202148, was first isolated from the fecal samples of piglets.

The species belonging to the genus are well-known for their colorful corolla. Molecular marker systems have the potential to elucidate genetic diversity as well as to assess genetic fidelity in rhododendrons. In the present study, the reverse transcription domains of long terminal repeat retrotransposons were cloned from rhododendrons and used to develop an inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) marker system.

Introduction: The role of tumour secretory cytokines and peripheral circulatory cytokines in tumour progression has received increasing attention; however, the role of tumour-related inflammatory cytokines in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. In this study, the concentrations of various cytokines in the peripheral blood of healthy controls and patients with CRC at different stages were compared.

Methods: Peripheral blood samples from 4 healthy participants and 22 colorectal cancer patients were examined.

Background And Purpose: Postmortem brain study indicated that cerebellar Purkinje cell (PC) loss might be a pathological finding in patients with inherited and idiopathic cervical dystonia (ICD). The analysis of conventional magnetic resonance imaging brain scans failed to yield support for this finding. Previous studies have identified that iron overload can be the consequence of neuron death.

In the cold regions of China, lignin-rich corn straw accumulates at high levels due to low temperatures. The application of psychrotrophic lignin-degrading bacteria should be an effective means of overcoming the low-temperature limit for lignin degradation and promoting the utilization of corn straw. However, this application is limited by the lack of suitable strains for decomposition of lignin; furthermore, the metabolic mechanism of psychrotrophic lignin-degrading bacteria is unclear.
