Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in infants worldwide. Nirsevimab, an extended half-life monoclonal antibody against RSV, is approved in China for the prevention of RSV lower respiratory tract disease in infants; however, global nirsevimab trials did not enroll Chinese infants. To inform the investigation of nirsevimab for the prevention of RSV LRTI in Chinese infants, this Phase I, randomized, placebo-controlled trial evaluated the pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety of nirsevimab in healthy Chinese adults.

Protein digestion was accompanied by the release of β-carotene from gel matrix during in vitro digestion. The surfactant types and corn fiber gum/soy protein isolate ratio affected the β-carotene bioaccessibility via changing oil-water interfacial composition and emulsion particle size during in vitro digestion.

Soybean proteins (SPs) are eco-friendly and high-quality food sources with well-balanced amino acids to meet consumer demand. The functionality and physicochemical attributes of SPs can be improved by appropriate processing and modification.

To produce PHKP by enzymatic hydrolysis, a novel β-mannanase gene (McMan5B) from Malbranchea cinnamomea was expressed in Pichia pastoris. It showed a low identity of less than 52% with other GH family 5 β-mannanases.

A novel D-mannose isomerase gene (PsMIaseA) from Pseudomonas syringae was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant D-mannose isomerase (PsMIaseA) showed the highest amino acid sequence homogeneity of 50% with ManI from Thermobifda fusca.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between ankle-branchial index (ABI) and cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes patients.
Methods: A total of 634 inpatients with type 2 diabetes were recruited in this cross-sectional study. All patients were measured with ABI and computed tomography angiography (CTA) scan for coronary artery disease (CAD).
