Here we explore its potency in triggering ferroptosis in transformed cells using triple negative breast cancer as the disease model. Through the whole transcriptome sequencing, mass spectrometry analysis, point mutation, and a series of and molecular assays, we identified two signaling axes centered at EGFR(Y1068), i.

In a previous study, we identified a protein predicted to contain acyl-CoA-binding domains in the plant pathogenic fungus . The predicted protein, designated VdAcb1, possesses an atypical signal peptide.

The molecular profiles of breast cancers may switch among subtypes during treatments, leading to a phenotype such as triple negative breast cancers (TNBCs) that is more difficult to treat. Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) has been demonstrated by many studies on its efficacy in arresting the malignancies of multiple cancer types including TNBCs that lack surface receptor expression and are thus the most difficult to treat among breast cancers.

By identifying pathological inflammation as the driving cause of uncontrolled cell proliferation in both classes of diseases, and differentiating autoimmune disorders and cancers by whether the cell death programs are under control, we propose the attenuation of prolonged inflammation via maintaining mitochondrial reduction-oxidation (redox) homeostasis being a possible cure of both diseases. Importantly, we propose the feasibility of applying cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) in treating autoimmune disorders and cancers given its redox-modulatory nature, which not only extends the medical utilities of CAP to autoimmune diseases and all other inflammation-driven disorders, but also positions the efficacy of CAP against cancer cells to its suppressive role on prolonged inflammation.

Despite the plethora of reports on MOF-based onco-therapeutic designs, these nanocomposites have rarely been launched for clinical use, given, at least, one unavoidable concern, , biosafety. Among the diverse possibilities that MOFs can be engaged for cancer treatment, one unignorable opportunity is how MOFs can be combined with other emerging anti-cancer approaches as one treatment modality to resolve issues of either one for surpassed treatment efficacy.

However, several critical issues still remain that have significantly halted the clinical translation of these nanomaterials such as the relatively low therapeutic efficacy, hyperthermia resistance, and biosafety concerns. To identify innovative approaches possibly creating synergies with MNPs to resolve or mitigate these problems, we delineated the anti-cancer properties of MNPs and their existing onco-therapeutic portfolios, based on which we proposed cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) to be a possible synergizer of MNPs by enhancing free radical generation, reducing hyperthermia resistance, preventing MNP aggregation, and functioning as an innovative magnetic and light source for magnetothermal- and photo-therapies.

However, the molecular mechanism underlying tumor progression remains unclear. Here, we report that the downregulation of Ubiquitin-specific peptidase 49 (USP49) promotes ferroptosis in OE33 and OE19 cells, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo, whereas the overexpression of USP49 had the opposite effect.
