Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the impact of ionizing radiation, specifically γ-ray irradiation, on the breeding process of tulips, an important ornamental plant, aiming to accelerate the development of new varieties.
  • Results showed that low radiation doses (5 Gy) improved bulb germination and survival rates, while higher doses (20 to 100 Gy) significantly hindered seed germination, plant growth, and flower characteristics.
  • The research discovered various genetic variations in tulips through ISSR-PCR analysis, highlighting that 80 Gy may be the optimal radiation dose for enhancing mutagenic breeding efficiency in tulips.
