The preparation of intelligent indicator films containing anthocyanins and their utilization for real-time monitoring of meat freshness represents a prominent research topic of food packaging. In this study, anthocyanins (ALR) were extracted from Lycium ruthenicum (LR) using solvent extraction. Subsequently, these anthocyanins were incorporated into films composed of soybean isolate protein (SPI), xanthan gum (XG) and agar, resulting in SPI/XG/Agar-ALR pH-responsive intelligent indicator films.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI), characterized by involuntary urine leakage during increased abdominal pressure, remains poorly understood regarding its pathophysiology and treatment. In this study, we utilized single-cell sequencing to analyze the transcriptomic profiles of different cell types in anterior vaginal wall of SUI patients, aiming to explore the heterogeneity of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and immune microenvironment in SUI pathogenesis. Our results identified eleven cell types, including connective tissue cells, immune cells, and glial cells.

Lignin is the most abundant and only renewable aromatic polymer in nature. Herein, a flexible matrix and the rigid lignin were rationally integrated to prepare high-strength, near-room-temperature self-healing, processable lignin-reinforced polyurethane elastomers (LZPUs). Reversible hydrogen and oxime-amino ester bonds were introduced into the matrix to provide excellent dynamic properties and abundant ligands for lignin-matrix coordination bonds.

Background: Senescent human skin primary fibroblast (FB) models have been established for studying aging-related, proliferative, and inflammatory skin diseases. The aim of this study was to compare the transcriptome characteristics of human primary dermal FBs from children and the elderly with four senescence models.

Methods: Human skin primary FBs were obtained from healthy children (FB-C) and elderly donors (FB-E).

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the effectiveness of venous surgery with and without split-thickness skin transplantation (ST) for treating varicose ulcers that are 6 cm or larger.
  • A total of 80 patients were involved, with 32 receiving surgery plus ST and 48 receiving surgery alone.
  • Results showed that ST significantly reduced initial healing time, but there was no long-term difference in overall healing rates or patient quality of life after 6 and 12 months.

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of combining Programmed Death-1/Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-1/L1) inhibitors with platinum-containing chemotherapy for treating late-stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients who have developed resistance to Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted at Baoji Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital involving 133 patients with advanced NSCLC who had shown resistance to EGFR-TKIs and were treated from October 2018 to May 2021. The cohort was categorized into two groups: one treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) plus chemotherapy and antiangiogenic agents (ICIs+BCP group), and the other treated with ICIs alone (ICIs group).

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disorder characterized by the ectopic growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, leading to debilitating pain and infertility in affected women. Despite its prevalence and clinical significance, the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of endometriosis remain poorly understood. This study employs bioinformatics tools and molecular docking simulations to unravel the intricate genetic and molecular networks associated with endometriosis progression.

Using weekly data from January 2020 to December 2021 on the prices of various links in the Chinese broiler industry chain and the COVID-19 epidemic, we employed a time-varying parametric vector auto-regressive (TVP-VAR) model to investigate the dynamic effects of public health events on price fluctuations of upstream, midstream, and downstream products in the Chinese broiler industry chain. Our findings showed that the COVID-19 epidemic had different effects on the prices of various broiler products, both in direction and magnitude, at different lags and time intervals. Chicken and live chicken prices were impacted the most, followed by broiler chick prices, while broiler feed prices were impacted the least.

This work describes the synthesis of C@BiOBr using glucose as the carbon precursor by a repeatable one-step hydrothermal method. Characterization studies indicate that the structure of BiOBr did not change after the carbon layer was encapsulated on the surface. The highest activity is achieved at 1.

Designing selective PARP-1 inhibitors has become a new strategy for anticancer drug development. By sequence comparison of PARP-1 and PARP-2, we identified a possible selective site (S site) consisting of several different amino acid residues of α-5 helix and D-loop. Targeting this S site, 140 compounds were designed, synthesized, and characterized for their anticancer activities and mechanisms.
