The development of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors is limited by the lack of doping methods. We propose surface isovalent substitution as an efficient doping mechanism for 2D semiconductors by revealing the evolution of the structure and electronic properties of 2D Se/Te. Because of the different electronegativity of Se and Te, Se substitution for Te at the specific lattice sites introduces electric dipoles and leads to charge redistribution, which lowers the work function and tunes the Te films from p-type to n-type semiconductors.

Due to the complexity of wound healing, how to achieve successful healing is a significant clinical challenge. In this study, we found that the histone deacetylase-7-derived 7-amino acid peptide (7A, MHSPGAD), especially its phosphorylated version 7Ap (MH[pSer]PGAD), increased dermal fibroblast cell HDFα proliferation and migration via elevated delta-catenin (CTNND1) serine phosphorylation-mediated beta-catenin (CTNNB) nuclear translocation and subsequent upregulation of c-Myc and cyclin D1 expression. 7Ap physically interacted with platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) and increased PDGFR interaction with cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6).

Electrocatalytic carbon dioxide (CO) conversion into valuable chemicals paves the way for the realization of carbon recycling. Downsizing catalysts to single-atom catalysts (SACs), dual-atom catalysts (DACs), and sub-nanocluster catalysts (SNCCs) has generated highly active and selective CO transformation into highly reduced products. This is due to the introduction of numerous active sites, highly unsaturated coordination environments, efficient atom utilization, and confinement effect compared to their nanoparticle counterparts.

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF) is widely used as an insulating gas, being an etchant and contrast agent in the electrical, semiconductor, and medical industries. However, due to its long lifetime and high global warming potential in the atmosphere, SF must be carefully handled to prevent leakage during production and usage. Herein, we report a sod-net metal-azolate framework (MAF) named MAF-stu-111, which decorates methyl and aldehyde groups in the porous windows, showing high adsorption affinity for SF at low pressure.

Two-dimensional (2D) lateral heterojunction arrays, characterized by well-defined electronic interfaces, hold significant promise for advancing next-generation electronic devices. Despite this potential, the efficient synthesis of high-density lateral heterojunctions with tunable interfacial band alignment remains a challenging. Here, a novel strategy is reported for the fabrication of lateral heterojunction arrays between monolayer SiTe grown on SbTe (ML-SiTe@SbTe) and one-quintuple-layer SbTe grown on monolayer SiTe (1QL-SbTe@ML-SiTe) on a p-doped SbTe substrate.

Electrocatalytic transformation of CO to various syngas compositions is an exceedingly attractive approach to carbon-neutral recycling. Meanwhile, the achievement of selectivity, stability, and tunability of product ratios using single-component electrocatalysts is challenging. Herein, the theoretically-assisted design of the triple-component nanocomposite electrocatalyst CuSn-Cu-SnO that addresses this challenge is presented.

The flourish of two-dimensional (2D) materials provides a versatile platform for building high-performance electronic devices in the atomic thickness regime. However, the presence of the high Schottky barrier at the interface between the metal electrode and the 2D semiconductors, which dominates the injection and transport efficiency of carriers, always limits their practical applications. Herein, we show that the Schottky barrier can be controllably lifted in the heterostructure consisting of Janus MoSSe and 2D vdW metals by different means.

2D materials emerge as a versatile platform for developing next-generation devices. The experimental realization of novel artificial 2D atomic crystals, which does not have bulk counterparts in nature, is still challenging and always requires new physical or chemical processes. Monolayer α-tellurene is predicted to be a stable 2D allotrope of tellurium (Te), which has great potential for applications in high-performance field-effect transistors.

Purpose: The expression of MUC5AC, a highly prevalent airway mucin, is regulated by stimulatory factors such as oxidative stress. Ganoderic acid D (GAD) activates mitochondrial deacetylase SIRT3. SIRT3 regulates mitochondrial function through deacetylation of mitochondrial proteins, thereby playing a significant role in alleviating oxidative stress-related diseases.

Forming semiconductor heterojunctions is a promising strategy to boost the efficiency of solar-driven photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting by accelerating the separation and transport of photogenerated charge carriers via an interfacial electric field. However, there is limited research considering the influence of electrolytes on the band alignment of the heterojunction under PEC conditions. In this work, we use a single crystal NiCoO/SrTiO (NCO/STO) heterojunction with atomic-precision controlled thickness as a model photoelectrode to study the band structure modulations upon getting in contact with the electrolyte and the correlation with the PEC activity.

In this work, a novel, label-free electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor was constructed for the ultrasensitive detection of carbohydrate antigen 15-3 (CA15-3) by the combined use of NiFeO@C@CeO/Au hexahedral microbox and luminol luminophore. The synthesis of the co-reaction accelerator (NiFeO@C@CeO/Au) was related to the calcination of FeNi-based metal-organic framework (MOF), as well as the ingrowth of CeO nanoparticles and modification of Au nanoparticles. To be specific, the electrical conductivity will be boosted due to the Au nanoparticles, the synergetic effect generated between CeO and calcination FeNi-MOF could offer better activity of oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

BCS theory has been widely successful at describing elemental bulk superconductors. Yet, as the length scales of such superconductors approach the atomic limit, dimensionality as well as the environment of the superconductor can lead to drastically different and unpredictable superconducting behavior. Here, we report a threefold enhancement of the superconducting critical temperature and gap size in ultrathin epitaxial Al films on Si(111), when approaching the 2D limit, based on high-resolution scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) measurements.
