Purpose: Cardiac inflammation is a basic pathological process of diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). Inflammatory response is closely related to pyroptosis, which is a recently identified programmed cell death type. Curcumin (CUR) is a polyphenol extracted from turmeric and has been reported to be crucial in alleviating pyroptosis in DCM.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of cardiac homing peptide (CHP) engineered bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSc) derived exosomes (B-exo) loaded miRNA-499a-5p on doxorubicin (DOX) induced cardiotoxicity.

Methods: miRNA chip analysis was used to analyze the differences between DOX induced H9c2 cells and control group. CHP engineering was performed on BMMSc derived exosomes to obtain C-B-exo.

Rationale: Eosinophilic granuloma (EG) - the most common form of Langerhans cell histiocytosis - occurs rarely, and manifestations with only rib and clavicle involvement are extremely rare. EG symptoms often include pain, swelling, and soft tissue mass. The clinical diagnosis of bone EG is complex, and the differential diagnosis includes Ewing sarcoma, tuberculosis, multiple myeloma, lymphoma, primary bone malignancy, and other osteolytic lesions.

Background: Sandhoff disease (SD, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man: 268800) is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder caused by variants of the β-hexosaminidase B (HEXB) gene (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man: 606873). The HEXB gene has been mapped to chromosome 5q13 and contains 14 exons. The symptoms of SD include progressive weakness, intellectual disability, visual and hearing impairment, exaggerated startle response, and seizures; the patients usually die before the age of 3 years.

Therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined montelukast sodium on cough variant asthma in children: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Cough variant asthma in children is a special type of asthma. Although there are many effective cases of combined acupuncture and western medicine in the clinical treatment of this kind of children, there is no standardized acupuncture combined with western medicine to evaluate the curative effect. Therefore, combined with existing reports, a systematic review and meta-analysis of acupuncture combined with montelukast sodium in the treatment of cough variant asthma in children were carried out to obtain conclusive results.

Overexpression of RCN1 correlates with poor prognosis and progression in non-small cell lung cancer.

We investigated the expression of reticulocalbin-1 (RCN1) and its prognostic significance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). RCN1 expression was evaluated by immunohistochemical analysis with tissue microarrays in NSCLC tissues and matched adjacent noncancerous tissues. Furthermore, quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were also used to examine the expression of RCN1.

Etiology of community-acquired pneumonia in 1500 hospitalized children.

Childhood community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a common illness; however, comprehensive studies of hospitalizations for CAP among children in China based on prospective and multicenter data collection are limited. The aim of this investigation was to determine the respiratory pathogens responsible for CAP in hospitalized children. From January to December 2015, oropharyngeal swabs and blood serum were collected from hospitalized children with CAP symptoms ranging in age from 6 months to 14 years at 10 hospitals across China.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: This study examined the protective effects of total saponins from Ornithogalum saundersiae (Liliaceae) on D-galactosamine (D-GalN) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced fulminant hepatic failure.

Materials And Methods: Total saponins of Ornithogalum saundersiae (Liliaceae) (OC) were prepared with ethyl alcohol extract from bulbs of the plant. Mice were given an intraperitoneal injection of D-GalN (700 mg/kg)/LPS (10 μg/kg).

[Design, synthesis and antiasthmatic activities of NO-donating seratrodast derivatives].

Aim: To search for novel antiasthmatic agents.

Methods: Coupling seratrodast (SD), an antiasthmatic drug, with several different types of NO donors including oxatriazoles, N-hydroxyguanidines and furoxans; evaluating the antiasthmatic effects of coupled compounds by determining their inhibitory activity of guinea pig asthma induced by acetylcholine and histamine; and assessing NO releasing ability.

Results: Nine novel target compounds (I1-9) were synthesized, and their structures were established by IR, NMR, MS and elemental analysis.
