Ferroptosis is a novel form of oxidative cell death, in which highly expressed unsaturated fatty acids on the cell membrane are catalyzed by divalent iron or ester oxygenase to promote liposome peroxidation. This process reduces cellular antioxidant capacity, increases lipid reactive oxygen species, and leads to the accumulation of intracellular ferrous ions, which disrupts intracellular redox homeostasis and ultimately causes oxidative cell death. Studies have shown that ferroptosis induces an immune response that has a dual role in liver disease, ferroptosis also offers a promising strategy for precise cancer therapy.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of Chinese medicine He's Yangchao recipe on premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and its relationship with mitochondrial function of ovarian granulose cells in an animal model.
Methods: Thirty-six female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into blank control group, model group, low-, medium- and high-dose He's Yangchao recipe treatment group and coenzyme Q10 (Q10) treatment group (positive control). The POI model was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (90 mg/kg).
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects approximately a quarter of the population and, to date, there is no approved drug therapy for this condition. Individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are at a significantly elevated risk of developing NAFLD, underscoring the urgency of identifying effective NAFLD treatments for T2DM patients. Salvianolic acid A (SAA) is a naturally occurring phenolic acid that is an important component of the water-soluble constituents isolated from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge.

It has been used as an herbal formula for the prevention and treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). However, the pharmacological mechanisms by which XBC ameliorates DPN remain poorly understood.

The Xiezhuo Tiaozhi (XZTZ) formula, a water extract from crude herbs, has been widely used as an anti-NAFLD agent through clinical observation. However, the underlying pharmacological mechanisms of the XZTZ formula and its impact on the potential pathways against NAFLD have not been elucidated.

This study was designed to evaluate the ameliorative activity of the polyphenolic fraction in (PGF) depending on the relief of ALD. The ALD mouse model was established by exposing the mice to a Lieber-DeCarli alcohol liquid diet.

However, interpreting CT images is a challenge, especially in emergency. Therefore, we developed a novel deep learning algorithm-based detection method for the initial screening of abdominal internal organ injuries.

XZTZ significantly alleviated alcohol-induced liver dysfunction, based on histological examinations and biochemical parameters after 4-week administration. Mechanically, alcohol-stimulated hepatic oxidative stress was ameliorated by XZTZ, accompanied by the improvement of Nrf2/Keap1 expression and alcohol-activated phosphorylation of pro-inflammatory transcription factors, including JNK, P38, P65, and IκBα, were rescued by XZTZ.

Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop alternative therapeutic strategies or drugs to minimize cisplatin-induced liver injury. Huangqi, the root of Astragalus membranaceus, is extensively used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and has been employed in treating diverse liver injuries.

Background And Aims: Epidemiological evidence suggests that the phenotype of glutathione S-transferase mu 1 (GSTM1), a hepatic high-expressed phase II detoxification enzyme, is closely associated with the incidence of alcohol-related liver disease (ALD). However, whether and how hepatic GSTM1 determines the development of ALD is largely unclear. This study was designed to elucidate the role and potential mechanism(s) of hepatic GSTM1 in the pathological process of ALD.

Given the critical role of the gut microbiota in ammonia production, we herein aim to investigate whether and how gut-derived ammonia contributes to ALD.
Methods: Blood samples were collected from human subjects with/without alcohol drinking.
Background: Current evidence indicates a rising global prevalence of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), which is closely associated to conditions such as obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. The relationship between the gut microbiome and metabolites in NAFLD is gaining attention understanding the pathogenesis and progression of dysregulated lipid metabolism and inflammation. The Xie Zhuo Tiao Zhi (XZTZ) decoction has been employed in clinical practice for alleviating hyperlipidemia and symptoms related to metabolic disorders.

Methods: In this retrospective observational study, we analyzed the clinical data of 82 patients (case group) with gestational SCH treated in our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 at gestational weeks 25-33 and grouped them according to whether SCH was well controlled by treatment (case Group-A: well controlled, n=55; case Group-B: poorly controlled, n=27), and the clinical data of 41 pregnant women (control group) undergoing physical examination during the same period. After comparing the blood lipids and TSH levels of the three groups, we compared their adverse pregnancy outcomes to assess the possible correlations between blood lipids and TSH levels and pregnancy outcomes.
