Background: Ruminants possess a rich repository of natural antimicrobial peptides(AMPs) within their bodies, surpassing those found in humans and mice. These peptides, including Defensin, Cathelicidin, and Lysozyme, are integral to the body's innate and adaptive immune responses and represent promising alternatives to antibiotics with significant application potential.
Results: In the present study, we conducted a systematic analysis of 40 Defensins, 38 Cathelicidins, and 61 Lysozymes in cattle and sheep.
The Jahn-Teller (JT) effect, as a spontaneous symmetry-breaking mechanism arising from the coupling between electronic and nuclear degrees of freedom, is a widespread phenomenon in molecular and condensed matter systems. Here, we investigate the influence of the JT effect on the photodissociation dynamics of CFI molecules. Based on ab initio calculation, we obtain the three-dimensional potential energy surfaces for and states and establish a diabatic Hamiltonian model to study the wavepacket dynamics in the CFI photodissociation process.

We propose an approach to probe coherent spin-state dynamics of molecules using circularly polarized hard X-ray pulses. For the dynamically aligned nitric oxide molecules in a coherent superposition spin-orbit coupled electronic state that can be prepared through stimulated Raman scattering, we demonstrate the capability of ultrafast X-ray diffraction to not only reveal the quantum beating of the coherent spin-state wave packet but also image the spatial spin density of the molecule. With a circularly polarized ultrafast X-ray diffraction signal, we show that the electronic density matrix can be retrieved.

Here we theoretically propose and demonstrate that the transient redistribution of ultrafast electronic coherence in attosecond Raman signal (TRUECARS) spectroscopy is capable of detecting the GP effect in excited state molecules by applying two probe pulses including an attosecond and a femtosecond X-ray pulse. The mechanism is based on a set of symmetry selection rules in the presence of nontrivial GPs.

In this study, we primarily tested interplay patterns between different isolates of these two species in two-by-two combinations grown on stainless steel surfaces as dual-species biofilms. Results showed that these two species presented competition as major observed interplay patterns as biofilms progressed independent of bacterial strains and growth temperatures (15 °C and 25 °C).
