Recent studies demonstrate that lipid peroxidation-induced ferroptosis participates in 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47)-evoked neurotoxicity and cognitive dysfunction. Melatonin has been indicated to confer neuroprotection against brain diseases via its potent anti-ferroptotic effects. Therefore, this study aims to explore whether melatonin can mitigate BDE-47-elicited cognitive impairment via suppressing ferroptosis, and further delineate the underlying mechanisms.

Background: Type A aortic dissection (TAAD) is a life-threatening condition characterized by complex pathophysiology, in which macrophages play a critical but not yet fully understood role. This study focused on the role of endothelial cells with elevated expression of ACKR1 (atypical chemokine receptor 1) and their interaction with proinflammatory macrophages in TAAD development.

Methods And Results: Single-cell transcriptomic analysis of human aortic tissues revealed increased populations of endothelial cells exhibiting high ACKR1 expression and proinflammatory macrophages in TAAD samples.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation and joint destruction, with emerging evidence implicating gut microbiota dysbiosis in its pathogenesis. The current study explores the role of ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, in modulating gut microbiota and metabolic dysregulation through the enzyme peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mouse model. Our findings demonstrate that ferroptosis exacerbates RA-related inflammatory responses and joint damage by upregulating PAD4 expression, which, in turn, influences the gut microbial composition and associated metabolite profiles.

This paper evaluates the relationship between the degree of cost-sharing and the utilization of outpatient and inpatient health services in China. Using data from the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), we estimated the association between outpatient and inpatient service utilization and cost-sharing levels associated with outpatient and inpatient services, as well as a comparative metric that quantifies the relative cost-sharing burden between the two. We found that patients in areas with higher levels of cost-sharing for outpatient services exhibit a lower propensity to use outpatient care and a higher inclination to utilize costly hospitalisation services.
