Background And Aim: Comparative studies of Ceftazidime/avibactam(CAZ/AVI) versus polymyxin B (PMB) for carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO) infections are limited. We aims to compare the efficacy and safety of CAZ/AVI and PMB in treating CRO infections.
Methods: This single-center, propensity score-matched (PSM) retrospective cohort study involved adult patients with CRO infections.
There is currently insufficient research on the causal relationship between depression and constipation. This study aims to provide clear evidence for the positive and negative causal relationship between depression and constipation through bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. MR is a statistical method used to evaluate the credible causal relationship between exposure and outcomes.

Although there are some reports on heterologous expression of lactoferrin, limited knowledge is available. In this study, structural characteristics and antioxidant activity of binary compounds formed by covalent modification of plant derived recombinant human lactoferrin (OsrhLF) with four typical carbohydrates including sodium alginate (SA), maltodextrin (Mal), pectin (Pec), and lactose (Lac).

As an ecosystem closely linked to human activities, the health of offshore aquaculture depends on the diversity and functions of bacteria in its environment. However, little attention has been paid to the vertical interface of the offshore aquaculture areas with shellfish net cages.

Methods: From 1990 to 2019, we employed the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) Results Tool in conjunction with an age-period-cohort model. This approach facilitated the estimation of annual percentage changes in incidence, referred to as net drifts, encompassing the overall population.
Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) may lead to oxidative damage and metabolic disorder. The pathogenesis of human bowel inflammation is closely related to oxidative damage of intestinal epithelial cells caused by ROS. This study aimed to explore the high-value utilization of the byproducts of sea cucumber in antioxidant food for colitis prevention.

Mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) reveal promising therapeutic potency by carrying various biomolecules. This study explored the effects of metformin on the therapeutic potential of EVs derived from human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) for periodontitis.

This study aims to isolate and culture CNPs from the dental plaque of patients with periodontal disease and investigate their possible role in unravelling the aetiology of periodontal disease.
Material And Methods: Supragingival and subgingival plaques were sampled from 30 periodontitis patients for CNPs isolation and culture.
Aquaculture pond sediments have a notable influence on the ecosystem balance and farmed animal health. In this study, microalgal-bacterial immobilization (MBI) was designed to improve aquaculture pond sediments via synergistic interactions. The physicochemical characteristics, bacterial communities, and the removal efficiencies of emerging pollutants were systematically investigated.

Numerous periodontal tissue-derived cells display osteogenic differentiation potential. The presence of differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in these cells indicate their ability to regulate the process of osteogenic differentiation.

This study aimed to investigate the nutrients removal, bacterial community shift, emerging contaminants elimination, and treatment mechanism of a FMC composed of Cordyceps militaris and Navicula seminulum for aquaculture pond water treatment. The fungi and microalgae were cultured and employed either alone or in combination to evaluate the treatment performance.

This study was designed to provide a comparative analytical assessment of the structural and functional attributes of ABP 938 and aflibercept RP sourced from the United States (US) and the European Union (EU).
Methods: Structural and functional characterization studies were performed using state-of-the-art analytical techniques that were appropriate to assess relevant quality attributes and capable of detecting qualitative and quantitative differences in primary structure, higher-order structure and biophysical properties, product-related substances and impurities, general properties, and biological activities.

Elderly patients are more prone to develop acute kidney injury during infections and polymyxin B (PMB)-associated nephrotoxicity than young patients. The differential response to PMB between the elderly and young critically ill patients is unknown. We aimed to assess PMB exposure in elderly patients compared with young critically ill patients, and to determine the covariates of PMB pharmacokinetics in critically ill patients.

The results indicated that the covalent modification polyphenols changed the secondary/tertiary structure of LF, significantly improving the surface hydrophilicity, thermal stability, and antioxidant activity of LF. Compared with the bLF group, the OsrhLF group was more hydrophilic and the thermal denaturation temperature of the OsrhLF-CA reached 104.
