Populus is a model system for investigating the wood development, crown formation, and disease resistance in perennial plants. AR2/ERF is a large family of transcription factors in plant, encoding transcriptional regulators with a variety of functions involved in the developmental and physiological processes. Here, starting from database of Populus genome, we identified 200 AP2/ERF genes by in silico cloning method using the AP2/ERF conserved domain amino acid sequence of Arabidopsis thaliana as probe.

Objective: To investigate the characteristic and influential factors of the degradation of residual pesticides and alkaloids in Radix Sophorae Flavescentis by H2O2.

Method: The spiked samples were treated in H2O2 in different reaction time, concentration and pH value. The pesticide residuals were determined by GC-MS, and the contents of alkaloids were determined by HPLC.

The present paper reports the photoluminescence properties of nanocrytalline ASnO3 (A = Ca, Sr and Ba) : 1% Eu phosphor synthesized by the Pechini-type sol-gel method. The powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis absorption spectra, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence measurements. The experimental results show that BaSnO3 has the ideal cubic peroskite structure, while SrSnO3 and CaSnO3 are both distorted from cubic symmetry by an octahedral tilting distortion.

Using a yeast one-hybrid method, a transcription factor, OsAP25, which interacts specifically with a GCC box was isolated from rice. The OsAP25 protein contained a conserved ethylene-responsive element binding factor (ERF) domain which shared identity with other reported ERF domains. Phylogenetic analysis showed that OsAP25 could be categorized into class III ERF of the previously characterized ERF proteins on an evolutionary relationship.

Nanosized A2SnO4 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) : 1% Eu with diameters ranging from 50 to 100 nm were synthesized by complex sol-gel methods. The structures and spectral properties of A2SnO4 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) : Eu were studied by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and luminescence spectra. The experimental results show that Ca2SnO4 : 1% Eu exhibits bright red emission at about 615 nm under UV excitation, which makes it a possible good candidate for FED application.

Aim: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-c (VEGF-C) mRNA and microvessel density (MVD) in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and its relationship with clinical significance.

Methods: Specimens obtained from 43 patients undergoing surgical resection for ESCC were used in this study. The expression of VEGF-C mRNA was examined by in situ hybridization.

A series of europium doped alkali earth orthovanadates were prepared by Pechini-type sol-gel. The powders were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), infrared spectrum (IR) and photoluminescence (PL). The results of TEM show that high-quality nanopowders with controlled particle size about 50 nm were prepared.

Objective: To observe the changes of intestinal flora in diarrhea type irritable bowel syndrome with Pi-wei dampness-heat syndrome (IBS-PDS).

Methods: The seven kinds of common intestinal bacteria in feces, including enteri bacillus, enterococci, saccharomycete, bifid bacteria, lactobacillus, bacteroides and peptococcus were studied in 21 patients suffered from IBS-PDS, and compared with those in 22 patients with IBS with deficiency of Pi syndrome (DPS) and 25 healthy subjects as control.

Results: As compared with the healthy subjects, the levels of enteri bacillus and enterococci were significantly increased (P<0.

Female sex pheromones are considered to be produced in a "pheromone gland" located in the terminal abdominal segments (8th-10th, TAS) of a moth; however, in many moth species, the cells that produce pheromones have not actually been specified. We investigated cells in the TAS that synthesize pheromones in the adzuki bean borer Ostrinia scapulalis, by locating pheromones and their precursors, and mRNA for Delta11-desaturase, a key enzyme in pheromone biosynthesis. We demonstrated that the pheromone components, (E)-11- and (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetates, and their fatty acyl precursors were specifically contained in the dorsal part of the TAS.

In order to clarify the biochemical basis to the divergence of sex pheromones in the genus Ostrinia (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), the pheromone biosynthetic pathway in O. zaguliaevi, a close relative of the European corn borer O. nubilalis, was investigated.

Nanosized LnVO4:Eu (Ln = La, Gd, Y) with diameters ranging from 20 to 50 nm were synthesized by complex sol-gel technique. The structures and spectral properties of LnVO4:Eu were studied by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform (FT-IR) spectroscopy, luminescence spectra and ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). The experimental results show that YVO4:Eu and GdVO4:Eu have similar spectral properties because they both have the structure of xenotime, while the structure of LaVO4:Eu belongs to monazite, whose symmetry is inferior to the former vanadates.
