Mutations in methyl CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) are linked to Rett syndrome, in which epilepsy is one of the most well-described disorders. However, little is known about the specific role of MeCP2 during epileptogenesis. Our previous study has demonstrated that MeCP2 has a unique control on the development of mossy fiber sprouting (MFS) in the epileptic hippocampus.

In this experiment, we studied a technique that permits the continuous fabrication of electrochromic alginate fibers because there hasn't been much research on electrochromic alginate fibers. Therefore, it's important to investigate ways to increase the application areas of alginate fibers. AgNP‑calcium alginate fibers with high electrical conductivity were prepared by Ag substitution method.

Given the anti-inflammatory effect of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) and its ability to promote brain plasticity, taVNS has emerged as a promising therapeutic option for SAH patients. However, the effects of taVNS on cardiovascular dynamics in critically ill patients, like those with SAH, have not yet been investigated.

The action mechanism and effective compounds of CAG in the treatment of IBS-D are not well understood.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness, action mechanism and effective compounds of CAG for treating IBS-D.
To investigate insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell function in overweight or obese people under the same glucose tolerance conditions. The subjects were categorized based on the results of the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and the BMI classification criteria. Basal and postprandial glucose concentrations, insulin concentrations, pancreatic β-cell function (HOMA-β), the insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR), and the insulin early secretion index (ΔI30/ΔG30) were compared between the different weight groups.

This study utilized single-cell RNA sequencing to explore myofibroblast diversity in various wound healing scenarios. Analysis of 89,148 cells from skin ulcers, keloids, and normal scars identified 13 cell clusters.

Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the potential reduction in the incidence of ICU-acquired pneumonia through prophylactic nebulized antibiotics were collected by searching the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from their inception to January 23, 2024. The primary endpoint was the incidence of ICU-acquired pneumonia, while the secondary endpoints included mortality, length of ICU stay, mechanical ventilation days, and nebulization-related side effects.
Hibernating mammals experience severe hemodynamic changes over the torpor-arousal cycle, with oxygen consumption reaching peaks during the early stage of torpor to re-enter arousal. Melatonin (MT) can improve mitochondrial function and reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. However, the regulatory mechanisms of MT action on the vascular protective function of hibernators are still unclear.

Oxidative stress (OS) and neuroinflammation are critical pathological processes in secondary brain injury (SBI) after intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH), and their intimate interactions initiate and aggravate brain damage. Thus, targeting oxidative stress and neuroinflammation could be a promising therapeutic strategy for ICH treatment. Here, we report a high-performance platform using polydopamine (PDA)-coated diselenide bridged mesoporous silica nanoparticle (PDA-DSeMSN) as a smart ROS scavenger and ROS-responsive drug delivery system.

Cancer has become a growing global health problem, and drug therapy is currently the most important clinical antitumor treatment. However, drug resistance is a major obstacle to the effectiveness of chemotherapy, resulting in >90% of deaths of patients with cancer receiving conventional chemotherapy.

Particularly, the mechanisms underlying fish diseases based on such dynamic interactions remain unknown. This study aimed to address the gap by conducting microbiome and co-occurrence network analyses on the typical freshwater aquaculture systems.
