Pinocembrin (PCB) is 5,7-dihydroxyl flavanone and has multiple pharmacological activities, namely, anti-inflammation, anti-osteoporotic, and so on. However, low water solubility and bioavailability have hindered its application. Herein, we aimed to increase its bioavailability through preparation of F127/MPEG-PDLLA polymer micelles (PCB-M).

To access the MBM application to the composting process of asparagus straw rice, we followed the composting process for 60 days in 220-L composters and another 180 days in 20-L buckets in treatments applied with MBM or urea. The microbial succession was investigated by high-throughput sequencing.

These relatively dramatic cycles profoundly impact microbial activity in the environment and subsequent emissions of methane and carbon dioxide. In this study, we mimicked drying and rewetting events by submitting methanogenic communities from strictly anaerobic environments (anaerobic digestors) with different phylogenetic structures to consecutive desiccation events under aerobic (air) and anaerobic (nitrogen) conditions followed by rewetting.

It is speculated that the activity of UBM for cell adhesion, migration, and activation is inherent. The bioactivity of UBM for in situ tissue regeneration and its relation with the structure and intact soluble components of UBM were investigated in comparison to a collagen-based scaffold, PELNAC (PEL).

Objective: Gout patients often have multiple comorbidities, making them susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection and poor outcomes. This study was undertaken to examine the association between gout and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe outcomes, especially in patients who have received a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.
Methods: We conducted 2 cohort studies using The Health Improvement Network in the UK.
Hyperoside (Hyp) self-assembled polymeric micelles (Hyp-PMs) were purposely developed to enhance aqueous solubility, availability and anti-oxidative effect of Hyp. In preparing Hyp-PMs, we employed the thin film dispersion method with the micelles consisting of TPGs and mPEG2000-PDLLA3000. The particle size, polydispersity index and zeta potential of Hyp-PMs were 67.

In this study, we performed column experiments to investigate the distribution and geochemical fraction of Cu, Pb, Ni and Cd in heterogeneously layered soils during continuous acid rain infiltration. Chloride ion used as a conservative tracer was found to be uniformly distributed during acid rain infiltration, showing insignificant preferential flow effects in the column.

This study investigates the effects of wheat embryo globulin nutrient (WEGN) on depression, neuroinflammation, and intestinal microbial disorder caused by AD and its protective mechanism on cognitive impairment. Results demonstrated that rats in the WEGN group have lower feed intake but higher body weight than those in the control group.

Ninety-seven patients with HCC who received the examinations of MRI and F-FDG PET/CT were retrospectively included in this study and were randomized into training and testing cohorts. The lesion image texture features of F-FDG PET were extracted using MaZda software.

Dantrolene is a well-known drug used as the first-line therapy for MH. A 14-year-old Chinese boy with a mutation in type 1 Ryanodine receptor (RyR1) whose muscle biopsy diagnosis was central core disease (CCD) had an occurrence of MH after a cervical spine surgery, during which he was placed under general anesthesia without volatile anesthetics or succinylcholine.

In this work, we focus on the challenging task, neuro-disease classification, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In population graph-based disease analysis, graph convolutional neural networks (GCNs) have achieved remarkable success. However, these achievements are inseparable from abundant labeled data and sensitive to spurious signals.

The multi-attribute method (MAM) was conceived as a single assay to potentially replace multiple single-attribute assays that have long been used in process development and quality control (QC) for protein therapeutics. MAM is rooted in traditional peptide mapping methods; it leverages mass spectrometry (MS) detection for confident identification and quantitation of many types of protein attributes that may be targeted for monitoring. While MAM has been widely explored across the industry, it has yet to gain a strong foothold within QC laboratories as a replacement method for established orthogonal platforms.

Purpose: Previous studies highlighted an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR); however, the risk for those with ACL tear but without undergoing ACLR has not been reported yet. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk of VTE among ACL tear individuals with or without ACLR derived from the general population.
Methods: A cohort study was conducted using data from the IQVIA Medical Research Database of the United Kingdom.
Background: We aimed to: (1) perform a nationwide trend analysis of staggered and simultaneous bilateral knee arthroplasty (KA); (2) investigate patient demographics and hospital characteristics in two groups; and (3) compare the outcomes of two groups with a focus on complications, length of stay (LOS) and hospitalization costs.
Methods: Utilizing the Hospital Quality Monitoring System, we included patients who underwent bilateral KA during a single hospitalization between 2013 and 2019. Patient demographics and hospital characteristics were compared between two groups.
As a significant public health problem with high morbidity and mortality worldwide, tumor is one of the major diseases endangering human life. Moreover, metastasis is the most important contributor to the death of tumor patients. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an essential biological process in developing primary tumors to metastasis.

Our previous study found that the secretome of MSCs was significantly amplified by treatment with IFN-γ and TNF-α (IT). It has been known that macrophages are involved in the initiation and termination of inflammation, secretion of growth factors, phagocytosis, cell proliferation, and collagen deposition in wound, which is the key factor during wound healing.

Methods: In the population-based cross-sectional Nanjing Eye Study, children were measured for anthropometric information, for ECD by the noncontact specular microscope and for ocular biometric parameters by the optic low-coherent reflectometer. Data from right eyes were analyzed to illustrate the distribution of ECD and for determining correlated factors with ECD using univariate and multiple linear regression analysis.
An efficient potassium persulfate-mediated radical addition of allenamides with diselenides was developed to create a workable route to 1,2-diselenide products. The reaction tolerates a wide spectrum of functional groups to deliver the products in good to excellent yields. Mechanistic investigations including a calculation study indicated that the radical cascade proceeds through a vinyl radical intermediate, which is formed a selenium radical added to the terminal CC double bond of allenamides.

With the rapid development of biomaterials and tissue engineering in recent years, biomaterial-assisted cell transplantation becomes a promising therapy for IVD degeneration. However, the application is severely limited by the weak biological characteristics of NP cells (NPCs), such as a moderate proliferation ability, weak self-renewal capacity, and minimal extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis capacity, caused by the current inappropriate cell seeding or grafting methods.
