The acentrosomal spindle apparatus has kinetochore fibers organized and converged toward opposite poles; however, mechanisms underlying the organization of these microtubule fibers into an orchestrated bipolar array were largely unknown. Kinesin-14D is one of the four classes of Kinesin-14 motors that are conserved from green algae to flowering plants. A gene expression signature (GES) is a group of genes that shows a unique expression profile as a result of perturbations by drugs, genetic modification or diseases on the transcriptional machinery. The comparisons between GES profiles have been used to investigate the relationships between drugs, their targets and diseases with quite a few successful cases reported. Aureochaeglobosins A-C (1-3), three novel [4 + 2] cycloaddition heterodimers of chaetoglobosin and aureonitol derivatives, were obtained from the culture of endophytic fungus Chaetomium globosum, representing the first adduct examples of chaetoglobosins. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and a modified Mosher's method. Chemical examination of aerial parts of Dracocephalum heterophyllum resulted in isolation of phenolic alkaloids, including two flavonoidal alkaloids, drahebephins A and B, one imidazole alkaloid with a phenolic substituent, drahebenine, together with 15 other known compounds. Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic data analyses. Due to the stereogenic center in the pyrrolidin-2-one ring, the flavonoidal alkaloids are chiral, although they were isolated as racemates.

A systematic phytochemical investigation of the aerial parts of Dracocephalum moldavica led to the isolation of 1 new and 16 known compounds. Based on spectroscopic analyses, the new compound was elucidated as a flavonoid glycoside, acacetin-7-O-(4″-acetyl)-glucopyranoside (1). The 16 known compounds were identified as: 9 flavonoids (2-10), 2 lignans (11-12), 4 triterpeniods (13-16) and 1 menthane-type monoterpenoid (17).
