Objectives: To investigate the clinical characteristics of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) in children with thalassemia major (TM) after haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT) and their prognosis.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 280 children with TM who underwent haplo-HSCT in the Department of Hematology and Oncology, Shenzhen Children's Hospital, from January 2019 to December 2021. According to the CRS criteria, they were divided into two groups: CRS grade <3 (260 children) and CRS grade ≥3 (20 children).
Background: The repair of articular cartilage defects is always a significant clinical challenge in joint treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate that the ColII-HA-CS-HAP scaffolds with BMSCs could repair cartilage defects of knee.
Methods: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were extracted from rabbits, identified using immunofluorescence staining, and successfully induced into chondrocytes.

Background: Recent research has revealed a significant association between Anillin (ANLN) and miR-374a‑5p with the progression of tumors. Additionally, bioinformatics analysis indicated an inverse relationship in transcript expression levels between ANLN and miR-374a-5p. However, the specific mechanisms driving the miR-374a-5p/ANLN signaling axis in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) have not been thoroughly explored.

We performed an experiment with Solidago canadensis from home and introduced ranges, leaf-chewing Spodoptera litura, and root-feeding Protaetia brevitarsis under climate warming and N deposition, and addressed how these abiotic stressors and plant provenance jointly shaped the reciprocal effects between S. litura and P.

We recently found that adult heart tissue-derived EVs can protect the heart from myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R). However, the role of EVs from neonatal heart tissue in cardiac healing post-ischemia remains unclear.

Thus, regional cell segmentation is a key step while it is challenging due to the following reasons: 1) It is hard for pure semantic and instance segmentation methods to obtain a high-quality regional cell segmentation result; 2) Since the appearances of pulmonary cells are very similar which even confuse pathologists, annotation errors are usually inevitable. Considering these challenges, we propose a two-stage 3D adaptive joint training framework (TAJ-Net) to segment-then-classify cells with extra information as the supplementary information of information.

Background: The mandibular retromolar space (RMS) has not been extensively studied in relation to various sagittal skeletal classes and patterns of third-molar eruption. The objective of this study was to test the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the mandibular RMS among normodivergent subjects with different skeletal classes and patterns of mandibular third-molar eruption, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Method: A total of 105 normodivergent patients (20-40 years) were included in this study.

Objective: Prostate Cancer (PCa) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality in men, especially in Western societies. The objective of this research is to address the unmet need for effective treatments in advanced or recurrent PCa, where current strategies fall short of offering a cure. The focus is on leveraging immunotherapy and cancer vaccines to target the tumor's unique immunological microenvironment.

In this study, a transposon mutagenesis library of E110 was used to show that several capsular polysaccharide (CPS) synthesis-related genes were linked to the phage HH109 infection. Gene deletion combined with multiple functional assays demonstrated that CPS serves as the receptor for the phage HH109.

The development of novel antimicrobial materials with high safety and efficacy to heal wound infection is of great importance in combating this crisis. Herein, we prepared a promising antibacterial hydrogel by cross-linking ferrous ions (Fe) with the deprotonated carboxyl anion in sodium alginate (Na-ALG) to cure wound infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

This study aimed to investigate the expression of ANLN in OSCC tissues and cell lines, to better understand its role in mediating proliferative, angiogenic, invasive, and metastatic capabilities in this type of cancer.
Methods: ANLN mRNA and protein levels were assessed using qPCR and western immunoblotting.
The study investigates the effect of the oxidant calcium oxide (CaO) on the codigestion of excess sludge (ES) and plant waste (PW) under mesophilic anaerobic conditions to enhance methane production. The findings indicate that CaO significantly elevated methane yield in the codigestion system, with an optimum CaO addition of 6% resulting in a maximum methane production of 461 mL/g volatile solids, which is approximately 1.3 times that of the control group.

The aroma quality of Liupao tea was comprehensively analyzed using HS-SPME in combination with GC-Q-TOF-MS, electronic nose, and sensory evaluations. Electronic nose detection showed that the aroma fingerprints of Liupao tea samples with different fermentation methods were different.

This work researched the effect of torch angle on the formation accuracy, droplet transition behavior and the mechanical properties in the WAAM process on a ZL205A aluminum alloy. The results suggested that at the obtuse torch angle, part of the energy input was used to heat the existing molten pool, which was optimized for the longer solidification period of the molten pool.

Furthermore, there is substantial evidence of a correlation between the triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI ) and CVD as an assessment of insulin resistance (IR). However, it remains unknown whether this correlation exists in population with CKM syndrome.

This review provides an in-depth examination of the role that tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play in the progression of prostate cancer (PCa), with a particular focus on the factors influencing the polarization of M1 and M2 macrophages and the implications of targeting these cells for cancer progression. The development and prognosis of PCa are significantly influenced by the behavior of macrophages within the tumor microenvironment. M1 macrophages typically exhibit anti-tumor properties by secreting pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), thereby enhancing the immune response.
