Backgrounds: Y-chromosomal haplotypes based on Y-short tandem repeats (STRs) and Y-single nucleotide polymorphisms/insertion and deletion polymorphisms (SNPs/InDels) are used to characterize paternal lineages of unknown male trace donors. However, Y-chromosomal genetic markers are not currently sufficient for precise individual identification. Microhaplotype (MH), generally < 200 bp on autosomes and consisting of two or more SNPs, was recently introduced in forensic genetics with the development of massive parallel sequencing technology and may facilitate identification and DNA mixture deconvolution.

Chronic and long-term methamphetamine (METH) abuse is bound to cause damages to multiple organs and systems, especially the central nervous system (CNS). Icariside II (ICS), a type of flavonoid and one of the main active ingredients of the traditional Chinese medicine , exhibits a variety of biological and pharmacological properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. However, whether ICS could protect against METH-induced neurotoxicity remains unknown.

Experiments were carried out to research the different contents of GaO modification effects on the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) performance of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) catalyzed by the stepwise impregnation method. Characterization techniques such as XRD, BET, HRTEM, NH-TPD, and Py-FTIR were performed to determine the effects of each modification of the catalyst by Ga on the properties of the prepared supports and catalysts. The catalytic effect of gallium is reflected in the fact that the empty d-orbitals of Ga elements participate in the formation of molecular orbitals in the active center and change their orbital properties, thus generating a direct desulfurization active phase suitable for complex sulfides for endpoint adsorption.

CRISPR/RfxCas13d (CasRx) editing system can specifically and precisely cleave single-strand RNAs, which is a promising treatment for various disorders by downregulation of related gene expression. Here, we tested this RNA-editing approach on Beethoven (Bth) mice, an animal model for human DFNA36 due to a point mutation in Tmc1. We first screened 30 sgRNAs in cell cultures and found that CasRx with sgRNA3 reduced the Tmc1 transcript by 90.

Large scale solar-driven hydrogen production is a crucial step toward decarbonizing society. However, the solar-to-hydrogen (STH) conversion efficiency, long-term stability, and cost-effectiveness in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) still need to be improved. Herein, an efficient approach is demonstrated to produce low-dimensional Pt/graphene-carbon nanofibers (CNFs)-based heterostructures for bias-free, highly efficient, and durable HER.

Bacterial leaf blight (BLB) is an important and devastating rice disease caused by the pathogen pv. (). In particular, in recent years, the occurrence of abnormal climate and warming phenomena has produced a good environment for the occurrence of BLB, and the rice yield due to the occurrence of BLB continues to decrease.

Human autologous sperm freezing involves ejaculated sperm, and testicular or epididymal puncture sperm freezing, and autologous sperm freezing is widely used in assisted reproductive technology. In previous studies, researchers have tried to cryopreserve sperm from mammals (rats, dogs, etc.) using a -80°C freezer and have achieved success.

In this study, 54 soybean germplasms of different seed coat colors originated from America, China, Japan, and Korea were cultivated in Korea and analyzed for the contents of total oil, total protein, total phenolic, five fatty acids, and five isoflavones, and antioxidant activities using three assays. The soybeans showed significant variations (p < 0.05) of metabolite contents and antioxidant activities.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, governments worldwide imposed lockdown measures in early 2020, resulting in notable reductions in air pollutant emissions. The changes in air quality during the pandemic have been investigated in numerous studies via satellite observations. Nevertheless, no relevant research has been gathered using Chinese satellite instruments, because the poor spectral quality makes it extremely difficult to retrieve data from the spectra of the Environmental Trace Gases Monitoring Instrument (EMI), the first Chinese satellite-based ultraviolet-visible spectrometer monitoring air pollutants.

is a human pathogen that can cause fatal septicemia and necrotizing infections with a high lethal rate exceeding 50%. MO6-24 and BO62316 are two predominant virulent strains associated with approximately one-third of the clinical infections. The capsular polysaccharides (CPSs) of consist of several structurally unique sugars and are excellent targets for developing effective glycoconjugate vaccines.

Grounded in the self-determination theory and the metacognitive and affective model of self-regulated learning, this study investigated the longitudinal relationship of self-determined motivation as the antecedent and academic performance as the consequence of metacognitive knowledge (MK) in mathematics learning. Two waves of data were collected from senior high school students ( = 327) in the second semester in Grades 10 and 11. A longitudinal mediation model was analyzed using structural equation modeling.

As training high-performance object detectors requires expensive bounding box annotations, recent methods resort to free-available image captions. However, detectors trained on caption supervision perform poorly because captions are usually noisy and cannot provide precise location information. To tackle this issue, we present a visual analysis method, which tightly integrates caption supervision with object detection to mutually enhance each other.

The functionality of soybeans is an important factor in the selection and utilization of excellent soybean cultivars, and isoflavones are representative functional substances in soybeans, which exhibit effects on antioxidants, estrogen activity, and cancer, and prevent cardiovascular diseases. This study analyzed ABTS, DPPH, estrogen, ER (ER) alpha, UCP-1, and NO inhibition activities in 48 types of soybean cultivars, as well as the relationship with 19 isolated types of individual isoflavone derivatives. Statistical analysis was conducted to find individual isoflavone derivatives affecting physiological activities, revealing the high correlation of three types of derivatives: genistein 7-O-(6″-O-acetyl)glucoside (6″-O-acetylgenistin), genistein 7-O-(2″-O-apiosyl)glucoside, and glycitein.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer has been ranked third among the most common cancers worldwide and raised to the second leading cause of cancer death with nearly one-tenth of cancer-related deaths globally, and nearly half of colorectal cancer patients present with or develop colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM). Buzhong Tiaogan Formula (BTF) has been proven to treat CRLM in our team, but there are lacking of evidence on its effective in delaying colorectal liver metastasis (liver depression spleen deficiency type), so we will evaluate the efficacy and safety of BTF in preventing the occurrence of CRLM.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be carried out in 3 different hospitals in Shanxi Province planning to recruit 150 CRLM patients with the type of liver depression spleen deficiency.

Sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC) is an understudied problem. Whole-exome sequence data from 124 "trios" (decedent child, living parents) was used to test for excessive de novo mutations (DNMs) in genes involved in cardiac arrhythmias, epilepsy, and other disorders. Among decedents, nonsynonymous DNMs were enriched in genes associated with cardiac and seizure disorders relative to controls (odds ratio = 9.

Monolithic optical parametric oscillators extend laser frequencies in compact architectures, but normally guide and circulate all pump, signal, and idler beams. Critical frequency matching is raised among these resonances, limiting operation stability and continuous tuning. Here, we develop a box resonator geometry that guides all beams but only resonates for signal.
