Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is prominently characterized by uncontrolled inflammation and high mortality. The effect of interleukin-37 (IL-37) on the prognosis of ARDS remains unclear.
Methods: This prospective cohort study detected and analyzed serum IL-37 levels on day 1 (baseline) in 128 patients with ARDS and 40 healthy controls, and on day 7 in patients with ARDS.
Positron emission tomography (PET) is a promising modality for early diagnosis, accurate detection, and staging of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Hereby, a dual-specific probe targeting Glypican-3 (GPC3) and prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) was evaluated for HCC PET imaging. The probe was prepared by conjugating TJ12P2, a GPC3-targeting peptide previously reported by our group, to a highly potent PSMA inhibitor via a polyethylene glycol linker and further tethered to the 1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (NOTA) chelator.

Methods: This retrospective study hypothesizes that, unlike in cases of trauma and degenerative disorders where delayed decompression surgery often leads to poor outcomes, delayed decompression surgery for MESCC-induced paralysis yields relatively favorable results. This study included MESCC patients who had been paralyzed for more than 48 h and underwent decompressive surgery between January 2012 and December 2020.
Background: Recent studies suggest that muscle synergy patterns can be a guide for diagnosis and rehabilitation.
Research Question: Does human's lower limb synergy pattern significantly change with changes in walking speed? Are there large differences in synergy patterns among different healthy individuals?
Methods: 22 healthy subjects from an open-source datasets were included. Non-negative matrix factorization was applied to identify the module composition of surface electromyography(sEMG) data, and the similarity index was adopted to quantify the overall similarity between synergy patterns.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Purpose: To explore the complications and risk factors for total resection (TR) of primary thoracic and lumbar spinal tumors over the past decade at our institution.
Methods: Patients meeting inclusion criteria (primary spinal tumors, thoracic or lumbar location, TR at our center) were included.
This study assessed the effects of mass mixing ratio and hydrothermal temperature on the co-hydrothermal carbonization (co-HTC) of sewage sludge and rice straw regarding the yield, chemical composition, fuel properties, surface functional groups, and combustion behavior of the hydrochar. The co-HTC increased the hydrochar yield at 180 °C but decreased it at 220 and 260 °C. The co-HTC increased the hydrochar organic matter contents, higher heating values, fuel ratios, and combustion behavior (combustibility index) by 16 % to 63 %, 15 % to 85 %, 51 % to 321 %, and 30 % to 419 %, respectively.

Methods: We collected clinical and laboratory data from 328 eligible patients from January 2018 to December 2022. Bacterial culture results were used to assess MDRO strain distributions, and risk factors related to MDRO infection incidence were identified through logistic regression analyses.
The Homeotic complex (Hox) genes play a crucial role in determining segment identity and appendage morphology in bilaterian animals along the antero-posterior axis. Recent studies have expanded to agricultural pests such as fall armyworm (FAW), scientifically known as Spodoptera frugiperda J. E.

Targeting mitochondria in cancer cells holds great therapeutic promise, yet current strategies to specifically and effectively destroy cancer mitochondria in vivo are limited. Here, we developed mitochondrial luminoptogenetics (mLumiOpto), an innovative mitochondrial-targeted luminoptogenetics gene therapy designed to directly disrupt the inner mitochondrial membrane potential and induce cancer cell death.

However, it is unclear whether the metabolomic signature is associated with weight loss interventions in obese children with IR. Thirty-six obese children with IR were selected from the weight loss camp (Shenzhen Sunshine Xing Yada health Technology Co.

Combination therapies have potential for treating refractory metastatic TNBC. In this study, we aimed to develop an antibody-drug conjugate with dual payloads (DualADC) as a chemoimmunotherapy for TNBC.

The most common PPF after TKA is supracondylar femoral fracture, which is a relatively rare complication that is usually associated with high-energy trauma, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4 to 1.

Knowledge of VTE risk factors in patients with acute spontaneous ICH continues to evolve while remains controversial. Therefore, this study aims to summarize the risk factors and predictors of VTE in patients with acute spontaneous ICH.

Currently, these Cages suffer from issues related to mismatched elastic modulus and insufficient bone integration capability. Therefore, a gel-casting technique is utilized to fabricate a biomimetic porous titanium alloy material from Ti6Al4V powder.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTreatments for Alzheimer's disease have primarily focused on removing brain amyloid plaques to improve cognitive outcomes in patients. We developed small compounds, known as BK40143 and BK40197, and we hypothesize that these drugs alleviate microglial-mediated neuroinflammation and induce autophagic clearance of neurotoxic proteins to improve behavior in models of neurodegeneration. Specificity binding assays of BK40143 and BK40197 showed primary binding to c-KIT/Platelet Derived Growth Factor Receptors (PDGFR)α/β, whereas BK40197 also differentially binds to FYVE finger-containing phosphoinositide kinase (PIKFYVE).

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has raised the importance of virtual visits and led to their widespread adoption globally, there are still many implementation barriers that need to be improved. Therefore, this review aimed to explore the use of ICU virtual visit technology during the COVID-19 pandemic and the barriers and facilitators of virtual visits to improve virtual visits in ICUs.

Obesity is a systemic and chronic inflammation, which seriously endangers people's health. People tend to diet to control weight, and the short-term effect of dieting in losing weight is significant, but the prognosis is limited. With weight loss and recovery occurring frequently, people focus on weight cycling.
