Objective: Our research explores how leisure-time sedentary behavior (SB) correlates with stroke risk. Additionally, we utilize the isotemporal substitution model (ISM) to examine how replacing brief durations of leisure-time SB with light physical activity (LPA), moderate physical activity (MPA), vigorous physical activity (VPA), and sleep might influence the risk of stroke.

Methods: This investigation tracked 478,198 participants from the UK Biobank.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study of 275 stroke patients analyzed the relationship between exercise self-efficacy, perceived social support, and sedentary behavior using various assessment tools and statistical methods.
  • * Results indicated that both perceived social support and exercise self-efficacy significantly influenced sedentary behavior, with exercise self-efficacy partially mediating the impact of social support on how much time patients spend being sedentary.

The misallocation of medical resources leads to interregional patient flow in search of better healthcare. Using out-of-pocket medical expenditure data and a delineating method, this paper identifies spatial clusters of medical services in China based on patient flow across cities. Our findings indicate that healthcare resources are more concentrated in northern China, while southern China is divided into several large healthcare clusters at the same threshold.

Background And Aims: Observational studies have suggested a relationship between leptin and risk of stroke. However, evidence for the association remains inconsistent, and whether the association reflects a causal relationship remains to be established. To clarify this relationship, we adopted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate whether leptin plays a causal role in the risk of stroke and its subtypes.

Our research aims to assess the performance of a new generation of consumer activity trackers (Fitbit Charge 4TM: FBC) to measure sleep variables and sleep stage classifications in patients with chronic insomnia, compared to polysomnography (PSG) and a widely used actigraph (Actiwatch Spectrum Pro: AWS). We recruited 37 participants, all diagnosed with chronic insomnia disorder, for one night of sleep monitoring in a sleep laboratory using PSG, AWS, and FBC. Epoch-by-epoch analysis along with Bland-Altman plots was used to evaluate FBC and AWS against PSG for sleep-wake detection and sleep variables: total sleep time (TST), sleep efficiency (SE), waking after sleep onset (WASO), and sleep onset latency (SOL).

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is currently considered to be one of the most common diseases that cause blindness. However, DR grading methods are still challenged by the presence of imbalanced class distributions, small lesions, low accuracy of small sample classes and poor explainability. To address these issues, a resampling-based cost loss attention network for explainable imbalanced diabetic retinopathy grading is proposed.
