Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a critical condition affecting the central nervous system that often has permanent and debilitating consequences, including secondary injuries. Oxidative damage and inflammation are critical factors in secondary pathological processes. Selenium nanoparticles have demonstrated significant antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties via a non-immunosuppressive pathway; however, their clinical application has been limited by their inadequate stability and functionality to cross the blood-spinal cord barrier (BSCB).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a central nervous system degenerative disease with a stealthy onset and a progressive course characterized by memory loss, cognitive dysfunction, and abnormal psychological and behavioral symptoms. However, the pathogenesis of AD remains elusive. An increasing number of studies have shown that oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) and oligodendroglial lineage cells (OLGs), especially OPCs and mature oligodendrocytes (OLGs), which are derived from OPCs, play important roles in the pathogenesis of AD.

Compared with long bone that arises from the mesoderm, the major portion of the maxillofacial bones and the front bone of the skull are derived from cranial neural crest cells and undergo intramembranous ossification. Human skeletal stem cells have been identified in embryonic and fetal long bones. Here, we describe a single-cell atlas of the human embryonic mandible and identify a population of cranio-maxillofacial skeletal stem cells (CMSSCs).

Low-dimensional hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) containing chiral organic ligands have recently emerged as promising candidates for circularly polarized light (CPL) detection, which can distinguish left- and right-handed CPL directly. However, the increase in responsivity and realization of self-powered CPL photodetector remain a challenge. Meanwhile, there is a trade-off between the photocurrent responsivity and the ability to differentially absorb CPL in detectors based on these low-dimensional perovskites.

Background: High levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) are previously considered protective against cardiovascular diseases (CVD), but recent studies suggest an increased risk of adverse events at very high HDL-C levels in the general population. It remains to be elucidated such a relationship in diabetes, a condition with high cardiovascular risks. We examined the association of HDL-C levels with the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and mortality in type 2 diabetes.
