Objective: To explore the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of biological total hip arthroplasty(THA) combined with impacting bone grafting for the treatment of moderate to severe acetabular invagination secondary to rheumatoid arthritis(RA).
Methods: Total of 20 patients(28 hips) with RA secondary to acetabular invagination were treated with THA of bioprosthesis combined with autogenous bone grafting from January 2012 to October 2020, including 5 males(8 hips) and 15 females(20 hips) with an average age of (55.10±4.
Background: Multimodal analgesia plays a key role in enhanced recovery after surgery. Herein, we describe a trial protocol investigating the effects of oxycodone-vs. sufentanil-based patient-controlled analgesia in combination with quadratus lumborum block (QLB) vs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: Oxycodone is a potent μ- and κ-opioid receptor agonist that can relieve both somatic and visceral pain. We assessed oxycodone- vs sufentanil-based multimodal analgesia on postoperative pain following major laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery.
Methods: In this randomised double-blind controlled trial, 40 adult patients were randomised (1:1, stratified by type of surgery) to receive oxycodone- or sufentanil-based multimodal analgesia, comprising bilateral transverse abdominis plane blocks, intraoperative dexmedetomidine infusion, flurbiprofen axetil, and oxycodone- or sufentanil-based patient-controlled analgesia.
Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases at present, and insulin pen injection therapy plays an important role in the treatment of diabetes. However, the majority of patients might reuse disposable insulin pen needles for various reasons, which leads to related complications. As far as we know, this article is the first to describe a patient whose needle remained in the right upper limb while reusing a disposable insulin injection needle for subcutaneous insulin injection with the non-dominant hand.

Currently, the treatment for PJI mainly includes the use of antibiotics alone, prosthetic debridement lavage, primary revision, secondary revision, joint fusion, amputation,
Aim: To explore the clinical effect of two-stage revision surgery for the treatment of PJI after TKA.
Methods: The clinical data of 27 patients (3 males and 24 females; age range, 47-80 years; mean age, 66.
Mistletoes play important roles in biogeochemical cycles. Although many studies have compared nutrient concentrations between mistletoes and their hosts, no general patterns have been found and the nutrient uptake mechanisms in mistletoes have not been fully resolved. To address the water and nutrient relations in mistletoes compared with their hosts, we measured 11 nutrient elements, two isotope ratios and two leaf morphological traits for 11 mistletoe and 104 host species from four sites across a large environmental gradient in southwest China.

Ninety patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrointestinal tumor resection were divided into 3 groups. Patients in the GA group were anesthetized by total intravenous anesthesia.

Combining the information encoded in functional traits and metacommunities provides a new perspective to predict the abundance of species in communities. We applied a community assembly via trait selection model to predict quadrat-scale species abundances using functional trait variation on ontogenetic stages and metacommunity information for over 490 plant species in a subtropical forest and a lowland tropical forest in Yunnan, China.

Fraxin, one of the primary active ingredients of Cortex Fraxini, may have potent anti-inflammatory activity. This study intended to investigate the function and mechanism of fraxin in a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model.

Materials And Methods: A total of 53 cases of severe novel coronavirus pneumonia were confirmed. The APACHE II, MuLBSTA and CURB-65 scores of different treatment methods were calculated, and the predictive power of each score on clinical respiratory support treatment and mortality risk was compared.
Background: The inflammatory response plays a critical role in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and inflammatory cytokine storm increases the severity of COVID-19.
Objective: To investigate the ability of interleukin-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin (PCT) to predict mild and severe cases of COVID-19.
Study Design: This retrospective cohort study included 140 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 from January 18, 2020, to March 12, 2020.
Chemotherapy drugs such as vincristine (Vin) could cause neuropathic pain. However, it is still lack of ideal therapeutic strategy to treat it. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been involved in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFApoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction are the main cause of neurological injury after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, the effects of distal ischemic treatments on ischemia induced apoptosis are rarely studied, and the mechanism by which mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to CPR still unclear. A rat model of distal ischemia was established by clipping the right femoral artery.

Cdc42 plays an important regulatory role in dynamic changes of the cytoskeleton. However, there is a little study referred to regulation and mechanism of Cdc42 on glial cells after peripheral nerve injury.

Tree seedlings under forests serve as an important part of forest ecosystem and play a role in the natural regeneration of forests. To understand the altitudinal distribution patterns of tree seedlings and the response to seasonal variation, we investigated the species composition and individual numbers of tree seedlings, and their seasonal dynamics in Ailao Mountain (subtropical region) and Yulong Mountain (subalpine region) in Yunnan Province. The results showed that the species richness of tree seedlings increased with altitude, peaked in the middle of the mountains, and followed a decline at higher altitudes, and the dominant species also changed significantly.

Etomidate has advantages in terms of circulation and respiration compared to propofol. We hypothesized that etomidate plus propofol during gastroscopy would be more safe and effective than propofol alone.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common emergency and severe case in clinic. High mobility group protein box 1 (HMGB1) can be treated as a new anti-inflammatory treatment target. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) is an important receptor of HMGB1.

Methods: Eighty ASA I-II children (4-10 years of age) scheduled for tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 20 per group) designated as either the rocuronium, mivacurium, dexamethasone (DXM), or promethazine group. Children in the DXM and promethazine groups were treated separately with intramuscular DXM 0.
Background: Prolonged pneumoperitoneum has cerebral adverse effects that may delay recovery and cause postoperative cognitive changes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mannitol infusion after pneumoperitoneum initiation on cerebral oxygen balance and quality of postoperative recovery in patients undergoing prolonged retroperitoneal laparoscopy.
Methods: Forty patients scheduled for retroperitoneal laparoscopic radical excision of prostatic carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups (n = 20, each) to receive either 0.
