Objective: This study aimed to develop dual-functional CMC-LYZ-ACP nanogels. Three different antibacterial substances, tea polyphenols (TPs), silver nitrate (AgNO), and chlorhexidine (CHX) are then combined to form three dual-functional CMC-LYZ-ACP nanogels for remineralization and antibacterial purposes.

Methods: An in vitro model of Streptococcus mutans biofilm was established to analyze the inhibitory effect of the antibacterial-remineralizing dual-functional nanogels on the biofilm.

The turnover and stabilization of soil organic carbon are tightly associated with the properties of litter input. Due to the complexity of litter decomposition and the high heterogeneity of forest soils, there are considerable uncertainties about how soil minerals, microorganisms, and environmental factors jointly regulate the transformation and stability of litter-derived soil organic carbon. Here, we present an overview of the "microbial efficiency-matrix stabilization" framework centered on microbial metabolism and organic carbon transformation, as well as the new "microbial carbon pump" and "mineral carbon pump" theories in forest soil organic carbon transformation and stabilization.

Targeted isolation, identification, and antioxidant evaluation of aromatic polyketides from a plant-derived fungus Ophiobolus cirsii LZU-1509.

There are >350 species of the Ophiobolus genus, which is not yet very well-known and lacks research reports on secondary metabolites. Three new 3,4-benzofuran polyketides 1-3, a new 3,4-benzofuran polyketide racemate 4, two new pairs of polyketide enantiomers (±)-5 and (±)-7, two new acetophenone derivatives 6 and 8, and three novel 1,4-dioxane aromatic polyketides 9-11, were isolated from a fungus Ophiobolus cirsii LZU-1509 derived from an important medicinal and economic crop Anaphalis lactea. The isolation was guided by LC-MS/MS-based GNPS molecular networking analysis.

Rotationplasty type BIIIb as an effective alternative to limb salvage procedure in adults: Two case reports.

Background: Rotationplasty is often performed for malignant tumors, but type BIIIb rotationplasty is rarely reported, and there needs to be more evidence of the procedure and treatment. The purpose of this case study was to report a new direction in the use of type BIIIb rotationplasty in treating patients with limb salvage and long-term non-healing infections.

Molecules with an allylic amine motif provide access to important building blocks and versatile applications of biologically relevant chemical space. The need for diverse allylic amines requires the development of increasingly general and modular multicomponent reactions for allylic amine synthesis. Herein, we report an efficient catalytic multicomponent coupling reaction of simple alkenes, aldehydes, and amides by combining nickel catalysis and Lewis acid catalysis, thus providing a practical, environmentally friendly, and modular protocol to build architecturally complex and functionally diverse allylic amines in a single step.

Control of the regioselectivity of α-alkylation of carbonyl compounds is a longstanding topic of research in organic chemistry. By using stoichiometric bulky strong bases and carefully adjusting the reaction conditions, selective alkylation of unsymmetrical ketones at less-hindered α-sites has been achieved. In contrast, selective alkylation of such ketones at more-hindered α-sites remains a persistent challenge.

Isolation and Identification of Novel Antioxidant Polyketides from an Endophytic Fungus LZU-1509.

Sixteen new polyketides, ophicirsins A-P (), including four novel carbon skeletons (, , , and ), were isolated from the extract of an endophytic fungus LZU-1509. The unique frameworks of ophicirsin N () and O () feature a different cyclic ether connected with an aromatic ring system. Ophicirsin P () is characterized by the unprecedented heterozygote of a polyketide and an alkaloid.

[Correlation between gut microbiota and erectile dysfunction: An update].

Gut microbiota is closely related to health and diseases as well as a frontier subject in medical research. Lots of studies have shown a close relationship of gut microbiota with the risk factors for ED, such as stress, anxiety, hormonal disorders, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and thyroid hormones. This review focuses on the correlation between gut microbiota and ED in the aspects of mental psychology, neurotransmitters, vascular endothelium, androgen and thyroid function, hoping to provide a new research direction for the pathogenesis and treatment of ED.

Exploring the Molecular Distributions in Dilute Polymer Solutions Using a Multi-Scale Numerical Solver.

Simulating the rheological behaviors of polymer solutions is intrinsically a multi-scale problem. To study the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics in the fluid flow of dilute polymer solutions, we designed a multi-scale solver, which couples the Brownian Configuration Fields with the macroscopic hydrodynamic governing equations. Numerical simulation results using the multi-scale solver exhibited good accordance with the macroscopic only approach.

Background: In the past 20 years, many studies compared phenylephrine with ephedrine to prevent or treat hypotension in elective or emergency cesarean delivery and parturients with pre-eclampsia. A meta-analysis of the abovementioned trials is needed.

Non-plasmonic metal nanoparticles as visible light photocatalysts for the selective oxidation of aliphatic alcohols with molecular oxygen at near ambient conditions.

Nanoparticles (NPs) of Pd and Pt were used for the selective oxidation of aliphatic alcohols with molecular oxygen as an oxidant at near ambient temperatures under visible light irradiation. Distinct final products were obtained under identical reaction conditions, aliphatic esters formed over the Pd NPs while aldehydes formed over the Pt NPs. The reason for this different product selectivity is proven to be due to the much stronger interaction of Pd NPs with alcohol and aldehyde compared to Pt NPs.

Primary Sjögren syndrome in Han Chinese: clinical and immunological characteristics of 483 patients.

The epidemiological characteristics of Sjögren syndrome (SS) are significantly varied in different countries. We conducted the present study to survey the epidemiological characteristics of primary SS in China. We recruited 483 primary SS patients from 16 Chinese medical centers nationwide from January 2009 to November 2011 and assessed salivary and lacrimal gland dysfunction, organ involvement, and autoimmunity in these patients.

Efficacy and safety of loxoprofen hydrogel patch versus loxoprofen tablet in patients with knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled non-inferiority trial.

This study is aimed at comparing the efficacy and safety of loxoprofen sodium hydrogel patch (LX-P) with loxoprofen sodium tablet (LX-T) in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). One hundred sixty-nine patients were enrolled in a randomized, controlled, double-blind, double-dummy, multicenter, non-inferiority trial of LX-P. Patients were randomly assigned to either LX-P or LX-T groups for a 4-week treatment.
