To investigate if deep-sedated colonoscopy affects adenoma detection in certain colorectal segment. Review of colonoscopy reports, electronic images and medical records of individuals underwent screening colonoscopy with or without propofol sedation between October 2020 and March 2021 from seven hospitals in China. A total of 4500 individuals were analyzed.

Value of territorial work efficiency estimation in non-ST-segment-elevation acute coronary syndrome: a study with non-invasive left ventricular pressure-strain loops.

Non-ST-segment-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) patients with normal left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) and wall motion require a non-invasive tool to detect LV risk areas. This study utilized non-invasive LV pressure-strain loops to evaluate territorial myocardial work efficiency (WE) for identifying obstructive coronary artery stenosis, in patients with non-obstructive or obstructive coronary artery stenosis NSTE-ACS, the latter with or without occlusion. Global and territorial longitudinal strain (LS) analyses were performed via speckle-tracking imaging before coronary angiography.

Homocysteine inhibits the viability and migration ability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells by downregulating the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor.

The current study aimed to explore the effect of homocysteine (Hcy) on the viability and migration ability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), as well as to examine the underlying mechanism. The association between the expression level of Hcy and lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) was detected in clinical samples collected from patients. In addition, the effect of Hcy on the viability and migration ability of HUVECs was detected by cell counting kit-8 and Transwell assays, respectively, while vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression was measured in order to verify the effect of Hcy on VEGF.

Impaired Right Ventricular Mechanics at Rest and During Exercise Are Associated With Exercise Capacity in Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Background Impaired right ventricular ( RV ) function indicates RV involvement in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy ( HCM ). We aimed to assess RV function at rest and during exercise in HCM patients and to examine the association between impaired RV mechanics and exercise capacity. Methods and Results A total of 76 HCM patients (48 without and 28 with RV hypertrophy) and 30 age- and sex-matched controls were prospectively recruited.

Decreased biventricular mechanics and functional reserve in nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients: implications for exercise capacity.

The present study investigated the changes of biventricular mechanics at rest and during exercise and examined the association between exercise capacity and biventricular mechanics and functional reserve in nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (NHCM) patients. A total of 50 NHCM patients and 25 controls were consecutively recruited for this study. Using echocardiography and two-dimensional speckle-tracking imaging, an experienced echocardiographer determined the following indices: RV free wall longitudinal strain (RVFWLS), LV global longitudinal strain (LVGLS), strain rate (SR), and functional reserve of strain values.

17β-estradiol preserves right ventricular function in rats with pulmonary arterial hypertension: an echocardiographic and histochemical study.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is more prevalent in females. Paradoxically, female patients have better right ventricular (RV) function and higher survival rates than males. However, the effects of 17β-estradiol (E2) on RV function in PAH has not been studied.

AlN Surface Passivation of GaN-Based High Electron Mobility Transistors by Plasma-Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition.

We report a low current collapse GaN-based high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) with an excellent thermal stability at 150 °C. The AlN was grown by N-based plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) and shown a refractive index of 1.94 at 633 nm of wavelength.

Baicalin is one of the active ingredients in the skullcap, with a variety of pharmacological effects, such as blood pressure reduction, sedation, liver-protection, gallbladder-protection, anti-bacteria, anti-inflammation, etc. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential cardioprotective effects of baicalin ameliorates isoproterenol-induced acute myocardial infarction (AMI) through inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), inflammation, oxidative stress and P38MAPK passageway in rat. Rat model of AMI was induced by isoproterenol (100 mg/kg) and then treated baicalin (various does of baicalin: 1 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg, respectively) for 24 h.

A new ursane-type triterpene, cymosic acid (1) together with two known compounds, 3β,19α-dihydroxy-2-oxo-12-ursen-28-oic acid (2) and 2α,19α-dihydroxy-3-oxo-12-ursen-28-oic acid (3), were isolated from Rosa cymosa Tratt. The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by analyzing its ¹H and ¹³C NMR, ¹H-¹H COSY, HSQC, HMBC, NOESY, and HR-ESI-MS values. The three compounds were found to display moderate inhibitory activities against nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-activated macrophage cell lines, RAW 264.

A study of mifepristone/IFN-γ-induced apoptosis of human cholangiocarcinoma cell line FRH-0201 in vitro.

Objective: To investigate the effects of mifepristone, a progesterone receptor (PR) antagonist, through the proliferation of human cholangiocarcinoma cell line FRH-0201 in vitro and the possible mechanisms involved.

Methods: A two-step addition of poly-HRP anti-mouse immunoglobulin G detection system was used to detect the expression of PR in FRH-0201 cells. After treatments with various concentrations of mifepristone (10, 20, 40, 80, 160, and 320 μmol/L) at various time intervals (24, 48, and 72 hours), the rate of cell inhibition, the rate of cell apoptosis, and the expression of bax/bcl-2/Fas were analyzed with tetrazolium blue (MTT) assay, flow cytometry, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting.

[Comparative study on two types of 3S and P-loops digestive reconstruction after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer].

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of 3S-type and P-loops digestive reconstruction after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

Methods: From February 2005 to February 2009, 85 cases underwent total gastrectomy in The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology. Two types of digestive reconstruction were performed with 3S-type jejunum(n=46) and P-loops Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy(n=39).

Cooperative effect of water molecules in the self-catalyzed neutral hydrolysis of isocyanic acid: a comprehensive theoretical study.

The detailed reaction mechanism for the water-assisted hydrolysis of isocyanic acid, HNCO + (n + 1) H(2)O → CO(2) + NH(3) + nH(2)O (n = 0-6), taking place in the gas phase, has been investigated. All structures were optimized and characterized at the MP2/6-31 + G level of theory, and then re-optimized at MP2/6-311++G. The seven explicit water molecules participating in the hydrolysis can be divided into two groups, one directly involved in the proton relay, and the other located in the vicinity of the substrate playing the cooperative role by engaging in hydrogen-bonding to HN = C = O.

Cytotoxic pentacyclic triterpenoids from Combretum oliviforme.

Four pentacyclic triterpenoids were obtained from the leaves of Combretum oliviforme Chao, 3beta-hydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid (1), 23-O-[alpha-L-(4'-acetylrhamnopyranosyl)]-imberbic acid (2), 23-acetoxy-3beta-acetylimberbic acid-29-methyl ester (3), and 23-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl]-1,3beta-diacetylimberbic acid (4). Hydrolysis of 2 and 4 gave 23-hydroxyimberbic acid (5). The structures were elucidated by NMR, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESIMS) and comparison with literature data.

The enhanced reactivity exhibited by six pseudo-alpha-bases, RC[triple bond]CZ(-) (R = H and Cl; Z = O, S, and Se) in gas-phase E2 reactions with ethyl chloride was examined at the G2(+) level. It is found that anomalous reactivity is observed despite the fact that these chalcogen bases do not possess adjacent lone-pair electrons. The influence of the halide leaving groups on the alpha-effect and the origin of the alpha-effect in the E2 reactions of ethyl halides are investigated and discussed.

Cooperative effect of solvent in the neutral hydration of ketenimine: an ab initio study using the hybrid cluster/continuum model.

The detailed reaction pathways for the hydration of ketenimine by water and water clusters containing up to five explicit water molecules (CH(2) =C=NH + (n + 1)H(2)O --> CH(3)CONH(2) + nH(2)O, n = 0-4) in the gas phase have been investigated by the MP2 method in conjunction with the 6-31+G* and 6-311++G** basis sets, and the effects of bulk solvent are taken into account according to the conductor-like polarizable continuum model (COSMO). In the hybrid cluster/continuum model, apart from one directly attacking water molecule, four explicit water molecules participating in the water-assisted hydrolysis of ketenimine are divided into two groups, one involving in the proton relay and the other near the nonreactive nitrogen or carbon atom. Two possible reaction channels, water addition across the C=C bond or across the C horizontal lineN bond of ketenimine, are discussed.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) enhances gastric carcinoma invasiveness via integrin alpha(v)beta6.

Integrins play an important role in tumor metastasis induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). However, in the case of gastric cancer, the precise role of VEGF in regulating integrin alphavbeta6 is unclear. In this study, we found that most of the alphavbeta6 integrin-positive gastric cancer tissues were also VEGF-positive.

Exploring the Reactivity Trends in the E2 and SN2 Reactions of X(-) + CH3CH2Cl (X = F, Cl, Br, HO, HS, HSe, NH2 PH2, AsH2, CH3, SiH3, and GeH3).

The reactivity order of 12 anions toward ethyl chloride has been investigated by using the G2(+) method, and the competitive E2 and SN2 reactions are discussed and compared. The reactions studied are X(-) + CH3CH2Cl → HX + CH2═CH2 + Cl(-) and X(-) + CH3CH2Cl → CH3CH2X + Cl(-), with X = F, Cl, Br, HO, HS, HSe, NH2 PH2, AsH2, CH3, SiH3, and GeH3. Our results indicate that there is no general and straightforward relationship between the overall barriers and the proton affinity (PA) of X(-); instead, discernible linear correlations only exist for the X's within the same group of the periodic table.

The water-catalyzed hydrolysis reaction of carbon disulfide (CS(2)) has been investigated at the levels of HF and MP2 with the basis set of 6-311++G(d,p) using the combined supramolecular/continuum models, in which up to six water molecules are involved in the hydrolysis and the effect of water bulk solvent is taken into account according to the polarizable continuum model (PCM). The activation Gibbs free energies in water solution, DeltaG(sol) (not equal) (298 K), for the rate-determining steps of one up to six water hydrolyses are 247.9, 184.

Difference in biological characteristics and sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiotherapy between intrahepatic and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma cells in vitro.

Objective: To investigate and compare the biological characteristics and sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiotherapy of intrahepatic and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma cells in vitro.

Methods: The intrahepatic and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma cell lines were established, and cells with steady passage were chosen to study the biological characteristics including morphology, growth dynamics, chromosome, and levels of cancer antigen (CA) 125, CA19-9, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), and carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA). Meanwhile, MTT assay was used to determine the sensitivity of both kinds of cells to 6 chemotherapeutic drugs, including cisplatin, paclitaxel, harringtonine, 5-fluorouracil, vincristine, and aclacimomycin, and the inhibitory rate of cells under the irradiation of 10 Gy ray was also measured.

[Research advances in endophytic fungi of mangrove].

Mangrove, a kind of special host plants, is a resource of abundant endophytic fungi. More than 200 species of endophytic fungi are isolated and identified from mangrove, being the second largest community of marine fungi. The reported endophytic fungi of mangrove are mainly Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Colletotrichum, Fusarium, Paecilomyces, Penicillium, Pestalotiopsis, Phoma, Phomopsis, Phyllosticta and Trichoderma.

Aberration of X chromosome in liver neoplasm detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization.

Background: A diverse range of cytogenetic alterations of autosomal chromosomes has been reported to date. However, few studies have addressed the abnormalities of X chromosome in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) except sporadic reports on the deletion of band F1 in X chromosome, and the clonal analysis of methylation pattern of the X chromosome-linked human androgen receptor gene. Identification of specific X chromosome alterations during the course of neoplastic development would be essential to defining the genetic basis of HCC.
