Background: Both rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) and central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) are rare medical diseases, and their simultaneous occurrence in the same patient is extraordinarily uncommon. This study presents a comprehensive overview of the clinical manifestations, diagnostic imaging results, and therapeutic interventions of a patient with both conditions.

Case Summary: In this report, we present a 30-year-old male who presented with significant protrusion, pain and vision loss and was diagnosed with RMS in the orbit and sinus with CRAO.

We investigated the influence of DNA fragmentation index (DFI) on fertilization (IVF), embryo transfer (ET), and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). We analyzed the semen parameters of 61 cycles in infertile couples undergoing IVF-ET and ICSI and determined DFI by sperm chromatin dispersion testing. Based on DFI, the patients were differentiated into a control group (DFI < 25%, = 35) and a test group (DFI ≥ 25%, = 26).

Sanggenon C is a flavonoid extracted from the root bark of white mulberry, which is a traditional Chinese medicine with anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and antitumor pharmacological effects. In this study, sanggenon C was found to inhibit human gastric cancer (GC) cell proliferation and colony formation, induce GC cell cycle arrest in the G0-G1 phase, and promote GC cell apoptosis. Moreover, sanggenon C was found to decrease the level of mitochondrial membrane potential in GC cells and inhibit mitochondrial fission.

A laboratory-scale intermittently aerated membrane bioreactor was applied to treat synthetic household wastewater characterized with low organic matter and high nitrogen concentration. Experimental results showed that at the condition of HRT 12 h, aeration/non-aeration cycle 30 min/60 min and a very long SRT, more than 90% of COD and close 100% ammonia nitrogen could be removed, and the average removal efficiency of TN was more than 80%, but this treatment process seemed to be not available in phosphorus removal. Nitrification was accomplished quickly and completely in the system.
