Research on the gain on ignition question for preparing ore with fusion sample preparation technique was done, and a new correction method was worked out. After fusion sample preparation, sulphide ore would have a lot of sulfate, which would change the sample matrix dramatically, and the matrix effect was corrected with errors. In this paper, a new solution to measuring gain on ignition was put forward, and it was committed step that the sample having gain on ignition was redefined by sample having loss on ignition.

The peak position and line shape of S Kalpha, S Kbeta satellite line, and the ratio of (S Kalpha / S Kbeta), (Cu Lalpha / Cu Kalpha), and (Fe Lalpha / Fe Kalpha) of copper concentrate samples with different depositing methods were determined by a conventional X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. It is concluded that the valence of S, Cu and Fe changed during depositing in accordance with the changes of the lines, Copper concentrate sample (main mine phase is chalcopyrite, containing a little pyrite) was oxidized apparently after 2 years depositing. Part of S2-, Cu+ and Fe2+ in the sample were oxidized to high valence, and the sulphur atom combined with oxygen atom.

X-ray fluorescence analysis software Spectra Plus was used to calculate theoretical alpha influence coefficents of other elements to Cr in seven stainless steel standard samples, theoretical alpha influence coefficients of elements, by which Cr signal was enhanced, varied largely with the change of elements content. Variable theoretical alpha influence coefficients, which varied with elements content, were used to correct the matrix effects in stainless steel, the secondary excitation of Cr by other elements were corrected, and Cr (0.3%-20.
