Background & Aims: Although hyperuricemia is a known risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD), little is known about the role of blood pressure in mediating this association. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of blood pressure-related indicators and Thrombospondin 3 (THBS3) in the association between hyperuricemia and CHD.

Methods And Results: Our observational epidemiology study included 593 CHD cases and 760 controls from a residential stable sample.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading threat to global public health. Although associations between temperature and CVD hospitalization have been suggested for developed countries, limited evidence is available for developing countries or rural residents. Moreover, the effect of apparent temperature (AT) on the spectrum of cause-specific CVDs remains unknown.

Hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) is a serious public health problem with increasing cases and substantial financial burden in China, especially in Wuhan city. Hence, there is an urgent need to construct a model to predict the incidence of HFMD that could make the prevention and control of this disease more effective. The incidence data of HFMD of Wuhan city from January 2009 to December 2016 were used to fit a combined model with seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model and support vector regression (SVR) model.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to estimate the burden of ischemic heart disease (IHD) and its associated risk factors in Fujian, China, from 1990 to 2013.
  • The age-standardized death rate from IHD increased by 15.3%, while disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) slightly decreased by 8.8% during the same period, mainly due to population growth and aging.
  • The leading risk factors contributing to IHD DALYs were high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, high sodium diet, and elevated blood glucose, indicating significant opportunities for prevention.
