Background: The optimal interval between neoadjuvant therapy and oesophagectomy for oesophageal cancer remains controversial.
Methods: Patients with locally advanced oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) who received neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by oesophagectomy between June 2017 and December 2020 were prospectively enrolled and retrospectively analysed. Patients were divided into two groups: timely (group A; < 10 weeks) and delayed (group B; ≥ 10 weeks) surgery groups.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the short-term outcomes of neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NACI) followed by oesophagectomy for locally advanced oesophageal squamous carcinoma.
Methods: Patients receiving NACI or chemoradiotherapy between September 2019 and September 2021 were identified. The primary outcomes were tumour response and survival.
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, and effective biomarkers are still lacking for early detection and prognosis prediction. Here, based on gene expression profiles of LUAD patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), 806 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), 122 microRNAs (miRNAs) and 1269 mRNAs associated with CDK1 were identified. The regulatory axis of LINC00460/LINC00525-hsa-mir-338-FAM111B/ZWINT was determined according to the correlation between gene expression and patient prognosis.

More than 50% of SLE patients have clinical manifestations of renal damage. At present, the treatment of lupus nephritis is mainly based on glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants.

Recently, potential adverse effects such as toxicity and safety concerns have been associated with the increasing use of engineered nanoparticles in food industry. Additionally, very limited information is known concerning the behavior, properties and effects of food nano-materials in the gastrointestinal tract.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLung cancer is the world's highest morbidity and mortality of malignant tumors, with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) as a major subtype. The competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulative network provides opportunities to understand the relationships among different molecules, as well as the regulative mechanisms among them in order to investigate the whole transcriptome landscape in cancer pathology. We designed this work to explore the role of a key oncogene, MYC, in the pathogenesis of LUAD, and this study aims to identify important long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-microRNA (miRNA)- transcription factor (TF) interactions in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using a bioinformatics analysis.

Therefore, this work conducted a radiomics-aided diagnosis analysis of PDAC based on plain CT images. We explored a novel MSTA (multiresolution-statistical texture analysis) architecture to extract texture features and built machine learning models to classify PDACs and HPs (healthy pancreases).

Aim: To evaluate whether a prolonged time interval between the end of nCRT and surgery has an effect on survival outcome in esophageal cancer patients.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases for relevant articles published before November 16, 2019, to identify potential studies that evaluated the prognostic role of different time intervals between nCRT and surgery in esophageal cancer.
Nano-composite films were developed between silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) using master batches by melt extruding and melt compounding. The Ag/PE composite film showed decreased gas permeability, moisture permeability coefficient, the tear strength, the longitudinal and transverse elongation to that of commercial LDPE. Although stiffness increased at high Ag (40 ppm) concentration, but the longitudinal and transverse tensile strength enhance comparing with commercial PE.

And MiRNAs have been proposed as a useful tool for lung cancer diagnosis and therapeutics in cancer. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association among the expression level of mature miR-200b-5p in peripheral blood and the risk of lung cancer and clinic pathological characteristics.

Biodegradation is a major mechanism which removes the pollutants from the environment. Therefore, the present study aimed to isolate and characterize a COD degrading bacteria which can effectively degrade slaughter wastewater.

This study was to investigate the role of Notch signaling in reflux injury of esophageal mucosa.
Methods: Patients undergoing Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy for early stage esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were included.
Background: Anastomotic leakage and stricture contribute to a large number of mortality and morbidity after esophagectomy. The aim of this work is to evaluate the outcome of modified double-layer hand-sewn esophagogastric anastomosis during minimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.
Methods: The clinicopathological data of 176 consecutive esophageal cancer patients who underwent cervical esophagogastric anastomosis using modified double-layer hand-sewn technique after radical esophagectomy were retrospectively reviewed.
Background: Catheter-based renal denervation (RDN) is a novel treatment for resistant hypertension (RH). A recent meta-analysis reported that RDN did not significantly reduce blood pressure (BP) based on the pooled effects with mild to severe heterogeneity. The aim of the present study was to identify and reduce clinical sources of heterogeneity and reassess the safety and efficacy of RDN within the identified homogeneous subpopulations.

Parametric optimization of the biosynthesis process demonstrated different effects on the size, distribution, yield, and synthesis rate of biosynthesized AgNPs. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements demonstrated that AgNPs were spherical or approximately spherical, with a size between 4 and 55nm.

The assessment results would lay the foundation for the development of recommendations for case report in Chinese medicine.
Methods: This survey determined the reporting quality of cases with Chinese herbal decoction, Chinese proprietary medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion and other traditional therapies published in 20 core medical journals of China by searching the China Academic Journals Full-text Database from 2006 to 2010.
Pathogenesis of lung cancer is a complicated biological process including multiple genetic and epigenetic changes. Since cigarette smoking is confirmed as the most main risk factor of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the aim of this study was to determine whether tobacco exposure plays a role in gene methylation. Methylation of the RAR-β gene were detected using methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction in DNA from 167 newly diagnosed cases with NSCLC and corresponding 105 controls.
