Dye analysis is important to the understanding of fabric color degradation and technical development of ancient printing and dyeing. In the present study, thin layer chromatography and Raman spectroscopy were used for the analysis of blue dyes from 6 silk fabric of Tang dynasty and decorative painting of Jian Fu Gong, Forbidden City. The applicability of these two methods in the cultural heritages was also studied.

The endophytic fungus Trichothecium roseum LZ93 from Maytenus hookeri was found to antagonize other pathogenic fungi in vitro. To identify which compound contributed substantially to the antagonism, we fermented the strain and purified its fermentation products. Eleven compounds were obtained, including two trichothecenes, five rosenonolactones, two cardiotonic cyclodepsipeptides, and two sterols.

The Ag-Ga/poly(methyl methacrylate) nanoparticles were prepared in-situ by emulsion polymerization method under ultrasonic irradiation without any initiators or metal reductant. HRTEM, EDS and XRD experiments were performed to characterize the nanoparticles. The results indicated that the nanocomposite particles possessed core-shell structure with diameters of 80-200 nm, as well as excellent monodispersity.

In addition to genetic alteration, epigenetic modifications, and in particular DNA methylation, are recognized as a common molecular alteration in human tumors. In esophageal cancer, aberrant methylation of promoter regions occurs not only in advanced cancer, but also in premalignant lesions.

Objective: To investigate immunity of a recombinant adenovirus vaccine (rAdV) containing codon-modified neuraminidase (Mod. NA) gene of H5N1 influenza virus in BALB/c mice and to screen for appropriate dose.
Methods: BALB/c mice were immunized with the rAdV-Mod.
Objective: Highly pathogenic avian influenza A virus H5N1 has the potential to cause a pandemic. Many prototype pandemic influenza A (H5N1) vaccines had been developed and well evaluated in adults in recent years. However, data in children are limited.

A wide scope of oxindoles, bearing C3 sterically congested quaternary carbon centers, were smoothly obtained in good to excellent yields (up to 99%) and high enantioselectivities (up to 91% ee) under mild reaction conditions. A more significant feature of this approach employs cheap and readily available paraformaldehyde as a hydroxymethylation C1 unit, which is activated by chiral bifunctional thiourea organocatalysts.

A wide range of optically active spiro[4H-pyran-3,3'-oxindoles] were obtained in excellent yields (up to 99%) with good to excellent enantioselectivities (up to 97%) from simple and readily available starting materials under mild reaction conditions. These heterocyclic spirooxindoles will provide promising candidates for chemical biology and drug discovery.

Although it has been shown that glucocortocoids (GC) inhibit adiponectin expression in vitro, there exist discrepant results in vivo. In this study, we observe the effect of GC on the serum adiponectin level and adiponectin expression in white adipose tissue (WAT) in male SD rats.

The present paper did some researches on the deterioration mechanism and the changes in crystallinity of silk fabrics by means of the X-ray diffraction analysis. The samples artificially aged and excavated from Hubei, Innermongolia, Shaanxi and Qinghai provinces were analyzed. The artificial aging was done by simulating three main natural aging factors: light, heat and hydrolysis.
