Article Synopsis
  • Polymyxin A1, a newly purified cyclic lipopeptide from a strain (SY20) found in Chinese fermented bamboo shoots, shows antimicrobial activity mainly against Gram-negative bacteria.
  • The purification process involved techniques like ammonium sulfate precipitation and chromatography, leading to the identification of Polymyxin A1 with a molecular weight of 1156.7 Da.
  • Advanced methods such as LC-MS/MS and MALDI-TOF MS were used to elucidate its structure and confirm the presence of a biosynthetic gene cluster, suggesting future research into its application and safety.

Previous studies have found that probiotic supplements can ameliorate mental behavioral disorders. This study investigated the effects of DMDL 9010 (LP9010) intake on the depression-like behavior induced by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) and its possible mechanism. Male C57BL/6N mice were fed with DSS to establish the model of ulcerative colitis.
