[Electroacupuncture promotes gastrointestinal motility by activating autophagy of Cajal interstitial cells via downregulating PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in stomach of diabetic gastro-paresis rats].

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) of "Zusanli" (ST36), "Sanyinjiao" (SP6) and "Liangmen" (ST21) on gastrointestinal motility, blood glucose content and expression of autophagy-related proteins 1 light chain 3 (LC3), p62, phosphatidyli-nositol-3 kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (Akt), p-Akt and mammalian target protein of rapamycin (mTOR) of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) in the cultured gastric antrum cells in diabetic gastroparesis (DGP) rats, so as to reveal its mechanisms underlying improvement of DGP.

Methods: A total of 45 Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into blank control, model, EA, medication (3-methyladenine, 3-MA) and EA+3-MA groups, with 9 rats in each group. The DGP model was established by intraperitoneal injection of 2% streptozotocin (STZ) combined with high-fat and high sugar diet for 8 weeks.

The role of circulating miRNAs in multiple myeloma.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a common malignant hematological disease. Dysregulation of microRNAs (miRNAs) in MM cells and bone marrow microenviroment has important impacts on the initiation and progression of MM and drug resistance in MM cells. Recently, it was reported that MM patient serum and plasma contained sufficiently stable miRNA signatures, and circulating miRNAs could be identified and measured accurately from body fluid.

Effectiveness and safety of pemetrexed versus docetaxel as a treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Our aim was to conduct a meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of pemetrexed and docetaxel for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Materials And Methods: We systematically searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, China Biology Medicine Database for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the efficacy and toxicities of pemetrexed versus docetaxel as a treatment for advanced NSCLC. We limited the languages to English and Chinese.

Background: Lycorine, a natural alkaloid extracted from Amaryllidaceae, has shown various pharmacological effects. Recent studies have focused on the potential antitumor activity of lycorine. In our previous study, we found that lycorine decrease the cell viability of leukemia HL-60 cells and multiple myeloma KM3 cells and induces cell apoptosis.

Quality assessment of clinical guidelines in China: 1993 - 2010.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) play an important role in healthcare in China as well as in the world. However, the current status and trends of Chinese CPGs are unknown. The aim of this study was to systematically review the present situation and the quality of Chinese CPGs published in the peer-reviewed medical literature.

Protein identification and mRNA analysis of phytochrome-regulated genes in Arabidopsis under red light.

Phytochromes are a family of plant photoreceptors that mediate physiological and developmental responses to red and far-red light. According to the affymetrix ATH1 microarray, phytochrome A (phyA) and phytochrome B (phyB) together play a key role in transducing the Rc signals to light-responsive genes. In order to select those red light-responsive genes associated with phyA or phyB, a proteomic approach based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) was used to compare the protein expression patterns of the phyAphyB double mutant and the wild type of Arabidopsis thaliana (col-4) which grew under constant red light conditions for 7 d.
