Background: Visceral pain occurs commonly following thoracic surgery, but an effective method to relieve visceral pain in thoracic surgery remains controversial. The authors test the effect of stellate ganglion blocks (SGB) on perioperative visceral pain following video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
Methods: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial enrolled 77 elderly patients undergoing VATS.
Objective: Despite advancements in spinal metastasis surgery techniques and the rapid development of multidisciplinary treatment models, we aimed to explore the clinical efficacy of spinal metastasis surgery performed by a combined NOMS decision system-utilizing multidisciplinary team and Revised Tokuhashi scoring system, compared with the Revised Tokuhashi scoring system.
Methods: Clinical data from 102 patients with spinal metastases who underwent surgery at three affiliated hospitals of Zunyi Medical University from December 2017 to June 2022 were analysed. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups: 52 patients in the treatment group involving the combined NOMS decision system-utilizing multidisciplinary team and Revised Tokuhashi scoring system (i.
Purpose: This randomized, non-inferiority study aimed to observe the feasibility of opioid-sparing analgesia based on modified intercostal nerve block (MINB) following thoracoscopic surgery.
Patients And Methods: 60 patients scheduled for single-port thoracoscopic lobectomy were randomized to the intervention group or control group. After MINB was performed in both groups at the end of the surgery, the intervention group received patient controlled-intravenous analgesia (PCIA) of dexmedetomidine 0.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common age-related joint disease characterized by chronic inflammation, progressive articular cartilage destruction, and subchondral sclerosis. Accumulating evidence suggests that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play key roles in OA, but the function of circSLTM in OA remains greatly unknown. Therefore, this study focused on interleukin-1β (IL-1β)-treated primary human chondrocytes as well as a rat model to investigate the expression pattern and functional role of circSLTM in OA in vitro and in vivo.

This approach can provide a full field of view and allow evaluation of the scope of the cyst under direct vision, which reduces the risk of recurrence and injury to the suprascapular neurovascular bundle.

However, anterior acromioplasty or lateral acromioplasty could not reduce high CSAs to the desired range (30-33°), with satisfactory accuracy and efficacy. Thus, we introduce a computer image-guided precise acromioplasty (CIG-PAP) technique, an individualized treatment based on three-dimensional planning.

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was to evaluate whether a single preoperative dose of methylprednisolone reduced the rate of postoperative delirium (POD) in older patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery and its association with the shedding of endothelial glycocalyx markers.
Methods: About 168 patients, aged 65-80 years and scheduled for laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, were randomized to 2 mg/kg methylprednisolone (Group M, n = 84) or equivalent dose of placebo (Group C, n = 84).
Objective: To review the preliminary clinical experience with high-field-strength intra-operative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) in the endoscopic chordoma operation with transsphenoidal or transoral approach.
Methods: From January 2009 to December 2010, 23 patients [range, 29 - 64 years, mean age (42 ± 3) years] of chordoma were operated with endoscopic transsphenoidal or transoral approach and examined intraoperatively with a movable 1.5 T iMRI magnet.
Background: In most colorectal carcinomas, the level of phospholipase C (PLC)-gamma 1 expression is greatly elevated. Increased expression of PLC-gamma 1 may play an important role in colon carcinogenesis, but the mechanism is not well known. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of PLC-gamma 1 in colon carcinogenesis by using recombinant lentivirus that stably suppressed the PLC-gamma 1 expression in human colorectal carcinoma LoVo cells.
