The ultrafast charge/discharge rate and high power density (P) endow lead-free dielectric energy storage ceramics (LDESCs) with enormous application potential in electric vehicles. However, their low energy storage density and single energy storage performance (ESP) limit their further development and applicability in rugged environments. Here, through the design of vacancy defects and phase structure regulation, Pb-free (BiNa)TiO-based ceramics with an optimal composition can achieve a large maximum polarization (>44 µC cm) under a moderate electric field (410 kV cm), resulting in an extremely high recoverable energy storage density (≈6.

Insomnia has now become a major health problem of global concern, with about 1/3 of the population suffering from sleep problems, a proportion that is still rising year by year. Most of the therapeutic drugs for insomnia currently used in clinical practice are not developed in a targeted manner, but are discovered by chance, and have unavoidable side effects such as addiction. Finding a safer and more effective therapeutic drug has become an urgent need for current research.

Article Synopsis
  • The ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) measures how well the otolith organs function, primarily focusing on muscle responses elicited by sound stimuli.
  • The study examined the characteristics and pathways of late peaks in oVEMPs across different groups: healthy individuals, and patients with various levels of hearing and vestibular loss, using both bone and air-conducted stimuli.
  • Findings revealed that in healthy subjects, the initial waves were largest and predominantly contralateral, while patients with vestibular function could still produce late peaks, suggesting they originate from a different mechanism unrelated to hearing status.

Gas transport through nanochannels has aroused significant interest in many fields. Recently, "ballistic transport" of gas was observed through a two-dimensional graphene nanochannel, and it causes a peculiar enhancement compared to the predictions of the Knudson theory. Many studies attributed this effect to the specular reflection caused by the atomically smooth surface of the channel.

Article Synopsis
  • A coupled physical-biogeochemical model was used to study how dissolved oxygen (DO) levels change over time and space in the Bohai Sea, indicating seasonal variations with low levels in summer and high levels in winter due to ventilation.
  • The distribution of bottom DO-depleted zones is mainly influenced by water layers and the sea's topography, as well as lateral water movement, while a unique area in the Central Bank sees higher DO due to turbulence and weaker stratification.
  • Resuspension of sediments has a minimal effect (<5%) on DO levels, and the Yellow River contributes extra nutrients and phytoplankton, helping maintain a consistent, though modest, oxygen production in the region.
