The application of therapeutic agents for cardiopathy has brought about significant advancements in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The intervention of small-molecule drugs has led to substantial reductions in morbidity and mortality rates, along with decreased utilization of healthcare resources. However, current treatment modalities do not exhibit uniform efficacy across all patients, and the emergence of drug resistance poses a significant challenge to further therapeutic efforts.

Recent extensive studies on the genomic and molecular profiles of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have expanded the treatment options, including, a range of compounds represented by fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 inhibitors. However, despite this progress, further treatments for AML are still required. Adenosine deaminase acting on RNA 1 (ADAR1) has been shown to play an important oncogenic role in many cancers, but its involvement in AML progression remains underexplored.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains a global health challenge. Circadian clock and Maternal embryonic leucine zipper kinase (MELK) play a key role in tumorigenesis. However, a link between circadian clock dysregulation and MELK function in the occurrence and development of ESCC remains elusive.

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: China is rapidly encountering population aging, yet studies on aging are limited by the traditional aging measure: chronological age, particularly in the field of genomics. Several promising aging measures have been proposed, but they lack comparative evaluation.

What Is Added By This Report?: PhenoAge was identified as a measure of aging that demonstrated greater applicability in contemporary populations.

Progranulin (PGRN), an autocrine growth factor with tumorigenic roles in a variety of tumors, is a putative survival factor for normal and cancer cells in vitro. However, the fundamental mechanism of PGRN-mediated survival of cancer cells suffering from various types of microenvironmental stresses, such as serum deprivation, remains unknown. We show here that serum deprivation decreases intracellular PGRN protein levels in cervical cancer cells.

Short-wave infrared (SWIR) photodetectors (PDs) have a wide range of applications in the field of information and communication. Especially in recent years, with the increasing demand for consumer electronics, conventional semiconductor-based PDs alone are unable to cope with the ever-increasing market. Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) have attracted great interest due to their low fabrication cost, solution processability, and promising optoelectronic properties.

The study investigated the effects of a toughening agent and micron-sized toughening particles (TP) on the resin and carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites, with a particular focus on compressive strength. The results showed that the addition of the toughening agent improved the overall mechanical properties of both the resin and CFRP but had a minor effect on the residual compressive strength (CAI) of CFRP after impact. Compared to the pure toughening agent, the addition of TP increased the CAI, GIC, and GIIC of CFRP by 74%, 35%, and 68%, respectively.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disorder of gut-brain interaction that impacts a significant portion of the population and is associated with substantial morbidity, reduced quality of life, and economic impact globally. The pathophysiology of IBS is complex and incompletely understood, and the heterogeneity of IBS is reflected in the variety of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical therapies utilized for the management of IBS. Given limitations with pharmaceutical treatments, many patients with IBS seek non-pharmaceutical options.

The emergent abilities of large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated great potential in solving medical questions. They can possess considerable medical knowledge, but may still hallucinate and are inflexible in the knowledge updates. While Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has been proposed to enhance the medical question-answering capabilities of LLMs with external knowledge bases, it may still fail in complex cases where multiple rounds of information-seeking are required.
