Increasing attention has been paid to silacyclobutanes because of their wide application in ring opening and ring extension reactions. However, the synthesis of functionalized silacyclobutanes remains an unmet challenge because of the limited functional group tolerance of the reactions with organometallic reagents and chlorosilacyclobutanes. Herein, we report a conceptually different solution to this end through a visible-light-induced metal-free hydrosilylation of unactivated alkenes with hydrosilacyclobutanes.

Increment of Skeletal Muscle Mass Predicts Survival Benefit for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treated with Transarterial Chemoembolization Combining Molecular Targeted Agents and Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors.

Purpose: To assess the relationship between clinical prognosis and changes of skeletal muscle mass for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) patients who received transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with molecular-targeted agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors (TACE-MTAs-ICIs).

Methods: From June 2019 to June 2023, a total of 92 uHCC patients who received TACE-MTAs-ICIs therapy were included. Skeletal muscle mass was assessed before and 6 months after treatment.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a highly contagious virus that causes severe diarrhea and high mortality in neonatal piglets. In this study, we evaluate the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of a PEDV S protein subunit vaccine compared to a traditional inactivated vaccine.

Genetic analysis serves as a powerful tool for investigating the pivotal genes and regulatory mechanisms governing anthocyanin accumulation in red and green perilla.

Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) has become the standard care for early-stage breast cancer. The accurate assessment of tumor margins is urgently required for BCS because positive resection margins often lead to local recurrence. To address this clinical dilemma, a Hf(IV)-coordinated NIR-II fluorescence "turn-on" nanoprobe based on the clinically approved NIR-II fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) for intraoperative tumor visualization is developed.

Cu(I)-Catalyzed Enantioselective Epoxidation of Aldehydes with α-Trifluoromethyl Diazosilanes.

Catalytic epoxidation of readily available aldehydes with diazo compounds is an atom economical strategy to synthesize epoxides. However, the asymmetric epoxidation reaction of aldehydes and fluorinated diazo compounds is challenging, because of the severe racemic background reaction. Herein, we report the first Cu(I)-catalyzed enantioselective epoxidation reaction between aldehydes and α-trifluoromethyl diazosilanes for the synthesis of chiral trifluoromethyl epoxides.

Graded Anterior Partial-thickness Blepharotomy for the Correction of Idiopathic Unilateral Upper Eyelid Retraction: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Idiopathic upper eyelid retraction is a rare ocular symptom characterized by abnormal upward displacement of the upper eyelid, often without any identifiable systemic disease. This condition not only affects the patient's appearance but may also have a certain impact on their daily life and mental health. We report a case of adult idiopathic unilateral upper eyelid retraction, and based on the patient's specific condition, we used graded anterior plate blepharoplasty for treatment.

Perceptions and experiences of commercial virtual reality games in early postoperative rehabilitation among cardiac surgical patients: A qualitative study.

Background: Although numerous studies have focused on the outcomes of virtual reality games for early rehabilitation in postoperative cardiac surgical patients, research on these patients' perceptions and experiences with virtual reality games has been limited.

Objectives: The aim of this qualitative study was to provide insights into the perceptions and experiences of postoperative cardiac surgery patients in using commercial virtual reality games during early rehabilitation.

Methods: A cohort of postoperative cardiac surgery patients ( = 12) who used the same VR games during the early rehabilitation period at the cardiac surgery intensive care unit (ICU) of a tertiary hospital in Nanjing, China, was enrolled in this study, conducted between January 2023 and December 2023.

The Brook rearrangement has emerged as one of the most pivotal transformations in organic chemistry, with broad applications spanning organic synthesis, drug design, and materials science. Since its discovery in the 1950s, the anion-mediated Brook rearrangement has been extensively studied, laying the groundwork for the development of numerous innovative reactions. In contrast, the radical Brook rearrangement has garnered comparatively less attention, primarily due to the challenges associated with the controlled generation of alkoxyl radicals under mild conditions.

Eccrine poroma versus eccrine porocarcinoma: a comparative study of clinicopathological features.

Background: Eccrine porocarcinoma (EPC) is a rare cutaneous neoplasm, commonly arising from its benign counterpart, eccrine poroma (EP), but potential unrevealed clinicopathological differences between them are not well understood.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify clinicopathological features of EP and EPC and describe the factors that may be associated with the malignant transformation of EP by comparing the two groups.

Methods: A total of 37 cases of EP and 22 cases of EPC diagnosed between January 2017 and June 2023 were retrospectively reviewed, and the clinical and histopathological characteristics were compared using statistical methods.

Effect of Compound Fertilizer on Foxtail Millet Productivity and Soil Environment.

The effects of balanced fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) on foxtail millet productivity and the soil environment under the same conditions of total nutrients have received limited research attention. Therefore, in this study, three balanced fertilization patterns of 27-14-10 (T1), 27-17-7 (T2), and 30-10-11 (T3), and one no fertilization treatment (CK), a total of four treatments, were set up through a two-year field experiment to study the effects of balanced fertilization patterns on foxtail millet yield and soil environment. Mantel analysis was conducted to reveal the correlation between soil environmental factors and the community and their contribution to productivity.

Background: Delirium is one of the most common neurological complications after cardiac surgery. The purpose of our study was to assess the relationship between perioperative blood pressure variability (BPV) and postoperative delirium (POD) in the patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Methods: Adult patients received cardiac surgery and stayed in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for more than 24 h after surgery during the study period between June 2019 and December 2022 were included in this study.

EstuarySAT Database Development of Harmonized Remote Sensing and Water Quality Data for Tidal and Estuarine Systems.

Researchers and environmental managers need big datasets spanning long time periods to accurately assess current and historical water quality conditions in fresh and estuarine waters. Using remote sensing data, we can survey many water bodies simultaneously and evaluate water quality conditions with greater frequency. The combination of existing and historical water quality data with remote sensing imagery into a unified database allows researchers to improve remote sensing algorithms and improves understanding of mechanisms causing blooms.

Absence of Langerhans cells resulted in over-influx of neutrophils and increased bacterial burden in skin wounds.

Langerhans cells (LCs) are resident dendritic cells in the epidermis and their roles in presenting antigens derived from microorganisms present in the skin has been well appreciated. However, it is generally thought that incoming neutrophils are mainly responsible for eradicating invading pathogens in the early stage of wounds and a role of LCs in innate immunity is elusive. In the current study, we showed that wounds absent of LCs had a delayed closure.

Methods: This prospective observational study included patients who underwent cardiac surgery between March 2023 and June 2023.

The Use of Water Sac Dilation in Resecting Parapharyngeal Space Benign Tumor via Transoral Approach.

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of employing the water sac dilation (WSD) method during endoscopy-assisted transoral resection of parapharyngeal space benign tumor (PSBT).

Methods: Between February 2017 and January 2022, a total of 32 patients diagnosed with PSBT were included in this prospective study and were randomly allocated into two groups: the WSD group and the control group. Tumors of the WSD group patients were all dissected using the WSD method.
