Xueshuan Xinmaining Tablets and Capsules are two Chinese patent medicines with the same prescription, different preparation methods but the same function of replenishing Qi, activating blood, opening orifices, and relieving pain. Xueshuan Xinmaining Capsules were qualitatively analyzed by UPLC-Q/TOF-MS for the first time, and 61 compounds were identified, including 9 phenolic acids, 10 bufadienolides, 15 saponins, 5 bile acids, and 22 other compounds. The chemical composition was slightly different between Xueshuan Xinmaining Tablets and Capsules.

Article Synopsis
  • Exertional heatstroke (EHS) can cause serious harm to the heart and other organs, highlighting the need for effective treatment strategies.
  • This study focused on the impact of L-carnitine (LC) in protecting against cardiac damage and dysfunction caused by EHS in rats, revealing that LC significantly improves heart health by reducing cell death and harmful changes in heart tissue.
  • The protective effects of LC are linked to its ability to inhibit the PERK pathway, which is involved in stress responses in cells, suggesting that LC supplementation may be a promising approach to mitigate heart injury in EHS cases.

Objective: Investigating the causal relationship between inflammatory cytokines and Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) and identifying and quantifying the role of serum ferritin as a potential mediator.

Methods: Genetic summary statistics were derived from open genome-wide association study (GWAS) databases. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the relationship between inflammatory cytokines (8,293 individuals) and NAFLD (8,434 cases, 770,180 controls).

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) has shown promise in Scene Text Recognition (STR) by facilitating knowledge transfer from labeled synthetic text (source) to more challenging unlabeled real scene text (target). However, existing UDA-based STR methods fully rely on the pseudo-labels of target samples, which ignores the impact of domain gaps (inter-domain noise) and various natural environments (intra-domain noise), resulting in poor pseudo-label quality. In this paper, we propose a novel noisy-aware unsupervised domain adaptation framework tailored for STR, which aims to enhance model robustness against both inter- and intra-domain noise, thereby providing more precise pseudo-labels for target samples.

Background: Immune factors are crucial in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and immune cells play a key role in the development of RA. However, there is still disagreement regarding the specific roles of each type of immune cell in the pathological process of RA.

Methods: This study used bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to determine the causal relationship between immune cell characteristics and RA.

Aurantii Fructus Immaturus(AFI) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine with multiple origins from Citrus aurantium and its legally cultivated variants. With advancements in agricultural biotechnology, many new cultivated varieties have sprung up,leading to an abundance of AFI adulterants and chaos in the herbal medicine markets. This study developed a specific identification method for AFI and its closely related adulterants by examining the appearance trait, content of extract, and multiple ingredients, involving indicators such as the ratio of pulp capsule to cross section diameter(Pc/Cs ratio), the content of extract, and the profile of 11 ingredients.

Ferroptosis is a novel, iron-dependent cell death characterized by the excessive accumulation of ferroptosis lipid peroxides ultimately leading to oxidative damage to the cell membrane. Iron, lipid, amino acid metabolism, and other signaling pathways all control ferroptosis. Numerous bodily tissues experience hypoxia under normal and pathological circumstances.

This paper aims to study the therapeutic effect and safety of Bushen Culuan Formula in the treatment of patients with infertility caused by hyperprolactinemia. Sixty patients with infertility caused by hyperprolactinemia of kidney deficiency and blood stasis were divided into the treatment group(Bushen Culuan Formula + Bromocriptine Mesylate Tablets placebo) and the control group(Bromocriptine Mesylate Tablets + Bushen Culuan Formula placebo), and ovulation rate, pregnancy rate, serum sex hormones, basal body temperature(BBT), and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) symptom scores were observed. The results showed the clinical effective rate was 90.

Transcriptomics was used to investigate the mechanism of action of Bushen Culuan Formula in the treatment of infertility caused by hyperprolactinemia(HPRL), and animal experiments were carried out to verify the results. After establishing an animal model of HPRL-induced infertility, the mice were divided into normal group, model group, Bushen Culuan Formula groups with high-, medium-, and low-doses, and bromocriptine group, and they were observed in terms of the estrous cycle, gonadal index, serum sex hormones, morphology of ovary and mammary gland, follicle count, and fertility. The results showed that the Bushen Culuan Formula could effectively restore the estrous cycle, down-regulate the levels of prolactin(PRL), follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH), and luteinizing hormone(LH), up-regulate the level of estradiol(E_2), increase the number of primordial follicles and sinus follicles, and improve the ovulation rate and fertility of mice.

Guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids are a class of terpenoids with [5,7] ring-fused system as the basic skeletal structure composed of three isoprene units, which are substituted by 4,10-dimethyl-7-isopropyl. According to the difference in functional groups and degree of polymerization, they can be divided into simple guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids, sesquiterpene lactones, sesquiterpene dimers, and sesquiterpene trimers. Natural guaiane-type sesquiterpenoids are widely distributed in plants, fungi, and marine organisms, especially in families such as Compositae, Zingiberaceae, Thymelaeaceae, Lamiaceae, and Alismataceae.

In order to establish the standardized processing technology of the hot water washing of Euodiae Fructus, this study, based on the traditional processing method of hot water washing of Euodiae Fructus recorded in ancient works and modern processing specifications of traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces, took the yield of decoction pieces and the content of main components as the indicators and optimized the processing conditions by orthogonal test based on the results of single factor investigation. At the same time, electronic tongue technology was used to analyze the change law of the taste index of Euodiae Fructus during the hot water washing. The results of the single factor investigation showed that the content of the main components in Euodiae Fructus showed some regular changes during the processing.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) can cause severe hemorrhagic fever in humans and is mainly transmitted by ticks. There is no effective vaccine for Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) at present. We developed three DNA vaccines encoding CCHFV nucleocapsid protein (NP), glycoprotein N-terminal (Gn) and C-terminal (Gc) fused with lysosome-associated membrane protein 1 (LAMP1) and assessed their immunogenicity and protective efficacy in a human MHC (HLA-A11/DR1) transgenic mouse model.
