Lysosomes are essential intracellular catabolic organelles that contain digestive enzymes involved in the degradation and recycle of damaged proteins, organelles, etc. Thus, they play an important role in various biological processes, including autophagy regulation, ion homeostasis, cell death, cell senescence. A myriad of studies has shown that the dysfunction of lysosome is implicated in human aging and various age-related diseases, including cancer.

We have identified a novel function of the p53 family protein TAp73 in regulating mitochondrial dynamics. TAp73 regulates the expression of Optic Atrophy 1 (OPA1), a protein responsible for controlling mitochondrial fusion, cristae biogenesis and electron transport chain function.

Methods And Materials: A total of 250 LA-NPC patients (training cohort: n = 145; validation cohort: n = 105) were enrolled. Radiomic features were extracted from MRI scans taken before and after IC, and changes in these features were calculated.
Background: The nasal tip plays a crucial role both esthetically and functionally. The application of nasal tip grafts is an effective method for improving nasal tip form. Ear cartilage is a common choice for nasal tip grafts, but it still presents several challenges in clinical application that need to be addressed.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAge-associated B cells (ABC) accumulate with age and in individuals with different immunological disorders, including cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint blockade and those with inborn errors of immunity. Here, we investigate whether ABCs from different conditions are similar and how they impact the longitudinal level of the COVID-19 vaccine response. Single-cell RNA sequencing indicates that ABCs with distinct aetiologies have common transcriptional profiles and can be categorised according to their expression of immune genes, such as the autoimmune regulator (AIRE).

However, the current construction concepts still suffer from insufficient sensitivity, unsuitable for complicated real samples and limited detection species. In this work, much efforts are achieved to address these obstacles.

Current therapies only marginally improve survival and there is an urgent need to identify new treatments. Carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) represent the main component of a vast stroma within MPM and play an important role in the tumour microenvironment.

Thus, we propose here some fruitful sensing concepts. First, the multiple biomolecular components of CRISPR/Cas12a system are collectively carried by MnO nanosheets via a simple physical absorption to achieve a highly-efficient biological uptake.

Methods: An online survey was performed and COVID-19 prevention and control management teams at PHC facilities were invited to participate in this research. The top 7 most important tasks in the three different periods of COVID-19 containment were selected and ranked.
The traditional approaches to false discovery rate (FDR) control in multiple hypothesis testing are usually based on the null distribution of a test statistic. However, all types of null distributions, including the theoretical, permutation-based and empirical ones, have some inherent drawbacks. For example, the theoretical null might fail because of improper assumptions on the sample distribution.

These findings are helpful to provide important suggestions to further improve national COVID-19 vaccination rate.
Design: A nationwide cross-sectional online survey was designed and conducted among COVID-19 prevention and control management teams at PHC facilities in mainland China.
Background: During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) containment, primary health care (PHC) facilities inChina played an important role in providing both healthcare and public care services to community populations. The tasks of COVID-19 containment facilitated by PHC facilities were different among different regions and during different periods of COVID-19 pandemic. We sought to investigate the gaps on task participation, explore existing problems and provide corresponding solutions.

The disease primarily results from loss of tumour suppressor gene function and there are no 'druggable' driver oncogenes associated with MpM. To identify opportunities for management of this disease we have carried out polysome profiling to define the MpM translatome.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOwing to their favorable design flexibility and eminent signal amplification ability, DNA nanomachine-supported biosensors have provided an attractive avenue for intracellular fluorescence imaging, especially for DNA walkers. However, this promising option not only suffers from poor controllability but also needs to be supplied with additional driving forces on account of the frequent employment of metal ion-dependent DNAzymes. Aiming at overcoming these obstacles, we introduce some fruitful solutions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA total of 86 soil samples, 86 corn kernel samples, 50 tailings samples, and 33 ore rock samples were collected in reclaimed land and surrounding areas of typical vanadium-titanium magnetite tailings located in the Chengde Central Region and analyzed for 14 elements (P, Fe, Cu, Ni, Cd, Cr, Pb, Zn, Hg, Ti, Mn, and Mo) and speciation of heavy metals. This study investigated the bioaccumulation and translocation characteristics of heavy metals in a soil-maize system based on a descriptive statistical analysis, a geological accumulative index, bioconcentration factors, and a redundancy analysis. The results showed that the average accumulation index of surface soil followed an order of P > Cu > FeO > Cr > Ti > V > Ni > Mn > Cd > Zn > Mo > As > Pb > Hg, while the accumulation level of heavy metals was generally categorized as either no accumulation or moderate accumulation.

In this study, the authors conducted a follow-up study on recovery condition of donor and graft site of patients after in situ rib splitting grafting or simple whole rib grafting surgery.
Methods: Between 2013 and 2016, 8 Chinese patients with orbital deformity were corrected using autogenous rib, of which 3 patients received conventional rib harvesting surgery, 3 patients received in situ splitting harvesting surgery, and 2 patients underwent both.
