To investigate the traditional village living environment adaptability to desertification and topography, the suitability evaluation index system and weight of traditional Buyei traditional villages in the rocky desertification area human settlement were quantified using Delphi method and comprehensive weighting method. We calculated human settlements environment suitability value and threshold to comprehensively analyze the human settlements environment suitability. The results showed that 10% of the traditional Buyei traditional villages were located in the rocky desertification areas with high intensity and extremely high intensity and had the tradition of selecting the best environment.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: Lactulose is effective in the treatment and prevention of overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE), but there are limited data on its use on microbiota in relations to minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) recovery. The present study aimed to assess the efficacy of lactulose in recovery of MHE in aspects of cognitive function, quality of life, and impact on intestinal microbiota.
Methods: This multicenter, open-label randomized controlled trial was conducted in 11 teaching hospitals in China.
Natural diatomite with abundant pores was used as a biotemplate for the massive production of three-dimensional (3D) porous graphene by chemical vapor deposition method. Subsequent template removal and nitrogen doping treatment yield nitrogen doped 3D graphene with preserved shape and complex internal features of the diatomite. After further deposition with MnO nanosheets, the N-doped 3D graphene@MnO (N-G@MnO) hybrid exhibited excellent supercapacitor and good oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance.

MnO-decorated magnesium wire composite (MnO-M) was fabricated via a simple hydrothermal reaction and accompanied by the calcination process (MnO/MnO-M). To clarify the optimized reaction condition of δ-MnO in the system, the effect of different pH, temperature and pollutant concentration of methyl orange (MO) for degradation process were investigated. Experimental results showed that MnO-M achieves a high removal rate of 76% (2h, at 25°C) in the presence of HO at pH 2.

Objective: To investigate, in vitro, the regulatory effects of tumor-suppressing gene PTEN on mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling pathway, the effects of transfected PTEN and rapamycin on the growth inhibition, and apoptosis induction for human leukemia cell line K562 cells.
Methods: K562 cells were transfected with recombined adenovirus-PTEN vector containing green fluorescent protein (Ad-PTEN-GFP), followed by the treatment of the cells with or without rapamycin. The proliferation inhibition rate and apoptotic rate of these transfected and/or rapamycin treated K562 cells were measured by MTT assay and flow cytometry (FCM), the expression levels of PTEN-, mTOR-, cyclinD1- and P27kip1- mRNA were measured by real-time fluorescent relative-quantification reverse transcriptional PCR (FQ-PCR), the protein expression levels of PTEN, Akt, p-Akt were detected by western blotting.

We reported a rare case of protoplasmic astrocytoma presenting small muscle atrophy of the right hand as an initial sign. A 39-year-old male was admitted to hospital complaining of chronic muscle atrophy and subtle headache. Electromyography (EMG) showed brief small denervation and no signs of sensory-motor conduction impairment.
