This study highlights the integration of sustainable desalination technologies into educational programs to raise awareness of freshwater production and environmental preservation. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students explore innovative methods such as pressure-retarded osmosis, multi-effect desalination, and seawater source heat pumps, all powered by renewable seawater thermal energy. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering reliance on fossil fuels, and protecting aquatic ecosystems.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the potential mechanism of NMF for treating COVID- 19 by network pharmacology, computational biology, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) verification.
Ephedra sinica, a well-known Chinese medicinal plant, is characterized as having the opposite medicinal effect among its root and stem. However, there is a lack of understanding to differentiate the active components present in the root and stem of E. sinica, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying the formation of the differential compounds, which has significantly hampered the further development and utilization of E.

In this study, the radial basis function (RBF) which has good performance for nonlinear problem is introduced to approximate the implicit relationships between EDM parameters and performance responses for 304 steel. The fitting precision of RBF is compared with the second order polynomial response surface (PRS), support vector regression (SVR) and Kriging model (KRG) using the multiple correlation coefficient (R2) based cross validation error method. Then the RBF model is called to conduct multi-objective optimization using non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) method.

Nucleot(s)ide analogues (NUCs) anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) therapies are widely applied despite the relatively low rate of seroconversion and high risk of drug-resistant mutation.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LDXGD for hypertension. PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Chinese Scientific Journal Database, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database were searched up to February 7, 2017 for randomized control trials in treating hypertension.

However, no preventative medicine for MHE has been recommended so far. The aim is to evaluate the therapeutic effect of the JianPi HuaZhuo XingNao formula (JPHZXN) on MHE, specifically whether JPHZXN decreases OHE occurrence, through a randomized controlled trial.

Methods: The study was a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded and parallel controlled trial. A total of 320 patients were randomly allocated into 2 groups equally: 160 patients (treatment group) were given SQG and YYJG combined with LAM; and 160 patients (control group) were given LAM plus Chinese herb placebo, respectively.
In the present study, the hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and antioxidative effects of metformin (MET) combined with Jiang Tang Xiao Ke (JTXK) granule derived from the "Di Huang Tang" were evaluated in mice with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) induced by high-fat diet/streptozotocin. DM mice were orally treated with MET (0.19 g/kg) either alone or combined with different doses (1.

Diabetes mellitus (DM), a kind of metabolic disease, is increasing over the last four decades in the world. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Jiang Tang Xiao Ke (JTXK) granule, a naturally occurring ingredient from Chinese herbal medicines, on serum glucose, lipids, and oxidative stress in DM rats induced by high-fat diet and streptozotocin. JTXK granule 9 g/kg (based on crude herb equivalent) and pioglitazone 1.

Methods: A total of 45 rats with T2DM were divided into four groups: sham operation (S, n = 10), sham operation with the hepatic branch of the vagus resected (SV, n = 11), RYGB (n = 12), and RYGB without preservation of the vagus (RYGBV, n = 12). Body mass, fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting serum insulin, and concentrations of fasting serum GLP-1 were examined in the first, second, fourth, and eighth week before and after surgery.
