A copper-catalyzed asymmetric aryl C-P cross-coupling/cyclization reaction was successfully developed via dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformation (DYKAT) under mild conditions. This study provides a general and simple method for the catalytic enantioselective synthesis of stable six-, seven- and eight-membered P-stereogenic phosphorus heterocycles with excellent enantioselectivities and moderate to high yields. One-pot gram-scale asymmetric synthesis of the P-stereogenic P-heterocycle from commercially available materials was also successfully accomplished with excellent enantioselectivity and high yield.

Mutations in the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike receptor-binding domain (RBD) may alter viral host tropism and affect the activities of neutralizing antibodies. Here, we investigated 153 RBD mutants and 11 globally circulating variants of concern (VOCs) and variants of interest (VOIs) (including Omicron) for their antigenic changes and cross-species tropism in cells expressing 18 ACE2 orthologs. Several RBD mutations strengthened viral infectivity in cells expressing ACE2 orthologs of non-human animals, particularly those less susceptible to the ancestral strain.

Here, cobalt-doped plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coatings with different cobalt contents were prepared on Ti implants. The cobalt ions in the PEO coating exhibited a slow and sustainable release and thus showed excellent biocompatibility and enhanced cell adhesion.enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and real-time polymerase chain reaction assays demonstrated that the cobalt-loaded Ti showed immunomodulatory functions to macrophages and upregulated the expression of anti-inflammatory (M1 type) genes and downregulated expression levels of pro-inflammatory (M2 type) genes compared with that of pure Ti sample.

Excess generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) based on sensitizers under ultrasound (US) excitation can cause the death of tumor cells via oxidative damage, but sonosensitizers are largely unexplored. Herein, oxygen-deficient black BiOCl (B-BiOCl) nanoplates (NPs) are reported, with post-treatment on conventional BiOCl by simple UV excitation, showing stronger singlet oxygen ( O ) generation than commercial TiO nanoparticles and their derivatives under US irradiation. Moreover, L-buthionine-sulfoximine (BSO), a GSH biosynthesis inhibitor, is incorporated into B-BiOCl NPs.

Despite several decades of intensive research on spirurine nematodes, molecular data on some of the main lineages are still absent, which makes taxonomic classification insufficiently resolved. In the present study, we sequenced the first complete mitogenome for the family Quimperiidae, belonging to (Spirurina: Quimperiidae), a parasite living in the intestines of snakehead (). Haze has been a severe problem in China for some time, jeopardizing air quality, public health and sustainable growth. This paper examines the direct effect and spatial spillover effect of policy uncertainty on haze pollution with a spatial panel model, using prefecture-level data from 2004 to 2016. This study shows that: (1) policy uncertainty has increased the level of local haze pollution and has a significant spatial spillover effect on surrounding areas; (2) although local policy uncertainty has increased the haze pollution in geographically adjacent cities, it only affects the cities within the province with similar economic distances; and (3) the policy at the central level can effectively alleviate the impact of policy uncertainty at the local level on haze pollution, especially in relation to the spatial spillover effect, but still has limitations in eliminating the direct effect, which is due to the ineradicable nature of policy uncertainty.
