The Cascade Reaction Chemistry of Diazo Compounds with Intentionally Designed Alkene to Access Esterified Heterocycles.

Exploration of the cascade reactivity of diazo compounds with alkenes is a challenging and largely unmet goal. Herein, we disclose a light-mediated de novo synthesis of esterified heterocycles under mild conditions. The reaction displays a broad functional group tolerance, including a wide variety of alkenes, diazo compounds, and some bioactive molecules.

Photoinduced, Silver(I)-Mediated Synthesis of Ester-Substituted Fused Quinazolinones via Cascade Alkoxycarbonylation/Cyclization of Heterocycles Bearing Unactivated Alkenes.

A new cascade alkoxycarbonylation/cyclization reaction of heterocycle-bearing unactivated alkenes is disclosed. The transformation is mediated by silver carbonate under photoirradiation. This method provides efficient access to pharmaceutically valuable molecules and natural product analogues containing quinazolinone-fused esters.

Factors Influencing the Uptake of Seasonal Influenza Vaccination among Community-Dwelling Older Adults during COVID-19: A Mixed Methods Study.

: Despite making the influenza vaccine accessible and affordable, vaccination rates remained low among community-dwelling older adults. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the factors influencing vaccine uptake and the impact of COVID-19 on vaccine uptake among community-dwelling older adults in Singapore. A mixed methods study involving a survey and semi-structured interviews were conducted between September 2020 and July 2021.

Satisfaction of patients with diabetic kidney disease with traditional chinese medicine physician visits.

Background: Patient-centred care is an important part of quality healthcare and patient satisfaction has been shown to be associated with improved clinical outcomes. We aim to explore the satisfaction of patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) with their visits to the TCM physician and its association with patients' socio-economic characteristics.

Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among patients aged >21 years with DKD.

Prevalence and Factors Associated with Concomitant Chinese Medicine Use by Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients in A Multi-Ethnic Asian Population.

Objective: To determine the prevalence, factors associated with and patterns of concomitant Chinese medicine (CM) with Western treatment use among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a tertiary referral centre (Singapore General Hospital) in Singapore.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional interviewer-administered survey of a consecutive sample of patients with RA in Singapore General Hospital centre regarding their CM use including data on patient demographics, disease characteristics, concomitant use of CM and reasons, concerns and disclosure patterns from March to August 2015. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the associations of CM use.

Using a Narrative Practice Approach to Understand In-Depth Experiences of Individuals Coping with Chronic Pain.

Objective: Current psychological interventions to enhance management of chronic pain report small to moderate effects. There is a need to explore the experiences and coping of individuals with chronic pain in depth and expand beyond current knowledge paradigms to enhance psychological interventions. The current literature recommends narrative practice as a qualitative approach in a group to facilitate sharing of knowledge on coping with chronic pain.
